hey all... im looking for an intake, and ive done my research, but im not sure which of the two intakes to get. the jwt popcharger i can get for 100 brand new. the injen i can get for 150 used. so money really isnt the issue. more or less, which one performs better? future mods i am planning are the kinetix plenum and the injen ses exhaust. so which of the two intakes should i get? before anyone says something... yes i have used the search function and i have read hundreds of intake posts! your advice is much needed and appreciated!

honestly man they are both good, its not going to really be any faster but the car sure does sound better, jwt got 6whp on some dyno charts but i dont know how true that is. injen is not going to be much better if it is at all. just make sure when you do get a plenum that you have the injen or jwt so you can let that motor breathe. you cant go wrong with either one, i went with jwt becuase of the easy install, and im a happy camper, btw i love the sound it makes as well.

I know you're asking for just performance comparisons.. but theres alot more to look at..
besides price.. the JWT is waaaaay easier instal, (CAI require removal of bumper from what I've heard) no hydrolock issues (<-- biggest reason to go JWT) like everyone mentioned (sounds better) carb legal!!!!! (not sure if the other is too, but some aren't)
hope this makes your decision easier

thanks for all the advice fellas... im going to go with the jwt popcharger for price, ease to install, ease to maintain, and the resulting sound. the thing i have gathered from u all and while doing my research is that no intake is going to give me a substantial power gain... so in terms of power, the injen and the jwt are equal. ive also read of a couple of people who had the injen cai and switched to to jwt popcharger. thanks again.
by the way, im thinking of hopping on the group buy for the motordyne plenum spacer. 160 for a 1/2 inch spacer! hopefully it will be as good as the aam plenum!

I have Injen CAI also, it works wonders with my crawford plenum.
In an older sport Z mag, they did a dyno shoot out with 3 hot mods: Injen CAI, crawford plenum, Injen SES exhaust, the Z made 19 hp, 17 tq at the wheels. I hope this helps.

I chose the popcharger with an intake tube because it not only looks better IMHO but independent reviews have dyno'd it with pretty good power gains exceeding those I'd seen for some of the CAI's. I just prefer to not deal with the risks of putting my intake near the ground where water could get anywhere near it. I had my Z on the track in the heat too and never noticed any power loss during nearly 45 minutes of lapping due to heat soak in the engine bay. Pics of my setup in my sig link if interested.

oh yeah, I've never seen anything about the tube making any difference. I'd imagine the CF version of UTR's pipe is a little cooler than a metal one but enough that anyone with a street car woul ever know the difference. I just got it for looks so I didn't have to look at that black plastic tube with the nice looking popcharger in there.

ok guys.... i just purchased the injen cai, kinetix HF cats, and the kinetix racing plenum. I got the package for a great deal ($500). i am excited to put these mods on and see what kind of power they bring. i have faith that the kinetix package will bring 15+ hp, and then once i get my injen ses exhaust with the injen cai and a ur crank pulley...... power power power is the goal!

nice i hope the plenum doesnt crack on you. depending on the results of the new Intake manifolds out there being designed, im either get one of those or the crawford myself, but i have heard good things about the kenitix as well as bad things like cracking. if it is the new v4 i recommend being very carefull on the install this seems to be the point where these items break.
