Default people with crawford plenum + JWT popcharger

hey guys i need a sanity check from those with crawford plenum and JWT popcharger....

1. try opening the hood, get into the car with the windows down, turn on your car, let it idle for 5-10secs, then shut off the car engine.....

do you hear a "whhhhhhhhisp" sucking sound for a second or two? this is normal right? its supposed to do that, coming from the residual sucking noise from the air intake filter right?

2. try opening the hood, get into the car with the windows down, turn the key to ON position but dont start the engine... other than electronic servo motor sounds (Which is normal), do you guys hear a brief sucking noise -- kind of like engine is getting primed up for start?

i'm just paranoid. checking for leaks of the crawford plenum install....

everything is normal enjoy your being paranoid jsut make sure all bolts are tight and if they are think to yourself what else could it be NOTHING all you had to do what tighten down some bolts o and make sure you put the rubber sleeve from the stock plenum on the crawford one.

Most likely you are hearing the Throttle Body position itself. I wouldn't worry unless you are having issues with the engine actually running poorly.

From what I've experienced, that's completely normal.......have installed 2 popchargers on 2 Z's with the Crawford plenum & both do that & run perfect. Initially, I thought it was a plenum leak as well, but checked the first one thoroughly & no leak. Besides, an air leak in the plenum is going to also occur while the car is running as well. I haven't really noticed it on a Z with the popcharger WITHOUT an aftermarket plenum (installed a couple for friends here). May have to do with a natural sound being "magnified" due to the larger enclosed area of the Crawford plenum - it does magnify the natural sound of the engine a bit. I have no idea what the sound is, but only occurs at start-up & shutdown - would be curious to know what internal/external engine occurance this is, though. Sounds like some kind of air "release" at shutoff & "prime" at start-up??????

thanks for the confirmation. i was going insane trying to probe for vacuum leaks... i'm extra paranoid because the previous solution didnt work out for me well at all -- i kept suffering from really bad leaks and idle quality was really rough and choppy (it was a spacer).
