lol,you and i should have a contest to see who can make more HP with the same mods . i have an 05 track too and i'm trying to decide between building the motor or going with a supercharger.
so far i have the jwt popcharger and nismo exhaust. i'm thinking about ordering the plenum right now .

btw: i recomend the popcharger, but i think it fits differently on our engines. i had to mess with the heat sheild a little.i also had to reshape the metal support peice and put a 1 inch bushing under it where it bolts to the engine bay to get it to fit.

Could you feel any different with the pop-charger? I am debating weather or not to get it.

The pop-charger is worth it for the sound alone, it sounds nuts at WOT

I might take it in the future. I am not the best drag racer, so I might need some time to practice.

E.T. depends mainly on your skill and can vary a lot if you have no experience

MPH depends mainly on your car and should be more or less constant

MPH is real indicator of power
with 260rwhp you should trap at 104-105mph easy whatever your E.T.

I would also like to see an NA beast. If I did so, I would want higher CR, cams, 8k redline, ITBs, all bolt-ons, and a standalone. Would like to see 400 crank...if not more.

Damn, that would be crazy. From what I've read, you'll need to beef up your fuel system to take it that far.

We were happy to see the outstanding dyno results from our Crawford Z Performance Plenum on a stock ‘05 Track Z. The ’05 lower plenum (with shorter intake runners than the earlier cars) sure didn't help at all when I installed and dynoed one on my ‘04. We lost power and torque throughout the rpm range. I thought all along that we would loose torque down low with the shorter runners, but was hoping to see some gains up top, which did not happen.

The variable exhaust cam timing on the ‘05 is really helping this engine make power with the shorter lower plenum runners.

This ‘05 dyno shows that he’s making about the same power as ‘03 and ‘04 cars with our whole package (plenum, headers and cats).

I can't wait to see what this thing will do with the headers and cats.

Doug

:giddywithanticipation:

I wonder if 350whp NA would be possible with this engine with a full NA buildup.

Yeah, I was about to go change it to maybe 310-320 whp. I thought about it and I was like 100whp from NA stuff is too much.

I think that will all the parts I listed above this engine might put out 400 crank or maybe a tad more.

Wow, that's impressive. I know a few people who have dynoed their 287hp Z with both the crawford and the 05 track plenum, and they using both didn't help much. pretty much you would want one or the other.
I guess that the head desings, variable timing, etc.. add up to a good combo when using the crawford on the acutal 05 Z. I guess those differences between the engine really show you how the power is made between the two engines, and how they differ when it comes to modding them. Looks like there will be thing to do to the 05 that don't really work well for the prior years.....
Well, congrats non-the-less!

400 crank is 115hp/liter

there are way better engines that do not produce anything close to that out there. I would be extremely impressed if anyone manages 105/liter, which is about 365 crank... and it remains to be seen if the car will be driveable on the street.

In the next few weeks I will be getting the Crawford headers and highflow cats. After I dyno with those it should give us a very good understanding to how well this engine will do NA.

It's very possible, but it would be very expensive. We're talking sheet metal intake manifold, new valvetrain and agressive cams, good headwork, higher compression pistons, full exhaust, and an standalone to tune it perfectly. With an 8000-8200rpm rev-limiter on a set-up like this it's defintely attainable.
