Guys..peak torque numbers are not what you strive to achieve. Besides, most of the peak torque loss is due to a more agressive cam profile. Putting the old plenum on the new motor would be near useless. It would take away some of the advantage of the new cams at the reward of a couple of lb/ft of torque that you can't even really feel.

Making the engine pull longer (more rpm) with slightly less peak pull is better than making the engine pull slightly harder for less rpm.

You give me the 80 bucks it cost to dyno and I'll do it.

I'll tell you right now how it's going to "act". Longer runners hurt high rpm power. The 05 setup for the motor was designed to extract more power at a higher rpm. Reverting back to the "old" lower manifold will only hurt performance.

well wernt people saying that the 05 plenum with the shorter runners would help the 04 engine?

But it didn't

It didn't help it because the 03-04 motor didn't have cams that could take advantage of the shorter runners for one..furthermore the 05 lower plenum is designed to be more effective above 6500rpms which the 03-04 motor doesn't even rev to without a reflash.

if you do that and run it with a spacer, i would suspect that it would be pretty pointless. putting a spacer in would kind of shift the power band around a little. I dunno, but i still think it would be interesting to see.... Ifi had an 05 track, i might try it all out for giggles.....

If you were to know much about fluid bodies you would know as the size gets larger the efficiency of an NA IC engine goes down. Big block guys are happy to make 1hp per CI. Don't give me any crap about small motors, etc. I own a 600rr track bike and a 1000rr street bike. The total load the motor sees dictates how aggressive the cams can be. My 1000rr makes over 145whp stock. More(about 8whp) after the slip-on and PCIII.

This isn't in the forced induction forum. Click on the forum this is in. There are subforums (Intake/Exhaust, Nitrous, Forced Induction).

I know what you mean, it should be called "Performance" but then you'd have to hope that people don't think handling/stopping is performance.

there are way better engines that do not produce anything close to that out there. I would be extremely impressed if anyone manages 105/liter, which is about 365 crank... and it remains to be seen if the car will be driveable on the street.

Well i think Hondas S2000 is pretty good with 2.0L with 240HP thats impressive IMO.

anything can be had with money. with enough money, a motor can be fully built, and yes it can be streetable, i'm pretty sure. BUt again, it's all about the benjamin's talking....
