crawford plenum vs plenum spacer
hey... right now im about to buy a crawford plenum spacer from one of the Z board members... but i was also considering a plenum spacer. does the crawford plenum make much more HP than a plenum spacer would? a 1/2 spacer that is.. cuz i know i dont want any police hassles.. and i KNOW theyre going to be bothering me because im young, and driving a Z with huge exhaust tips (and loud
) so... is a crawford plenum worth the extra $$ for the performance, looks, and police hassle?

A cop won't notice a plenum
it looks stock.. I have a kinetix V4 and love it.. I've heard nothing but great things about all crawford parts... so go for it!! To be honest, the last dyno day I was at, they were testing the spacer.. and the reason they get some added whp is because they 1st dyno the car while it's hot...then they let it cool off and install the plenum spacer.. then when it's nice and cool they re-dyno.. the temp alone gives the gain, so it's hard to tell if the spacers do anything....

depends on how much $ u wanna spend. the difference between a 1/4" or 1/2" spacer and a new upper plenum is prolly minimal (1-2whp). If you wanna pay the extra $ go for it. i went with the spacer. no problems!
I would say the spacer gives nore than 1-2 whp , and I know the Crawford does at least 8whp or more depending on mods and that is with any mod you add they all work together and help build power. But I am almost stock myself so it is a interesting question . Which is better for a stock car which will produce more HP.? Crawford requires thier strut bar 150.00 or Stillen fits it but with AAM spacer you retain stock bar and Plenum unknown to the eye.
See the thread regarding Crawford plenum dyno results on a stock 2005 Track model Z. Excellent gains.

BTW-I have the kinetix v4 plenum and love it.. no rubbing, kept stock strut bar and engine cover... and looks/sound/performs awesome!
no v4's have cracked incase ur wondering about that...(and they are warranteed anyways, so no worries!!!

i really don't think a cop is going to make you pop your hood and say....hmmm, i am gonna have to write you up for not having a stock plenum.
neither the spacer or crawford plenum is going to attract any attention or be noticable even if you did show the engine bay to the cop
now, if you've got no cats and a loud exhaust your just asking for trouble

The Spacers will do more than just 1 or 2 whp. They will do just as much as plenums or at least close to that.
The hydrozine spacers recieved grat reviews for their 1/4" and 1/2" spacers
Where the 1/4" spacer does not require the change of the strut bar and where 1/2" do. On the other hand, you do not have to get a new strut bar if you get the strut bar spacers and the hood spacers. (please look the hydrozine group buy thread for more info.)
The AAM spacers raise your front end of the plenum 1/2" up and the rear a 1/4". The front area is where the stock plenum needs lift anyway.
Therefore no need to buy a new strut bar. The only thing keeping me away from that mod is the warranty. I'll have to do some more research on that before i do this mod. If any information above is wrong please do correct me and any information on warranty would be great.
