Default Purposes behind flex pipe on YPIPE

i was wondering aside from giving the ypipe flexibility what else do the flex pipes(steel braided thing) do for the ypipe. just wondering because i scrape my ypipe alot in that area wondering if i will run into a leak problem becauses of scraping it up.

your engine torque will make the pipes move so its like a dampner for uour exhaust.

so no matter how scraped up the steel braids get it won't leak? I also hit an animal today and got a whole bunch of fur stuck in the steel braids and blood all over my power enterprise muffler

well, they're not nearly as solid as the pipe, so i would say you could develop a leak. i've seen these crack at the pipe-braid interface.

I just went over a bump this morning and took a layer or two of those steel braids out. Also interested if I will run into problems. (Not that I plan on doing it again.)

I have the borla exhaust and it doesn't have the flex pipe. My installer of the twin turbos pushed for me to have flex pipes installed to limit the chance of the manifolds cracking. Is this necessary?

I wouldn't worry much about the Greddy manifolds cracking since they are cast iron. If they were stainless steel, then there would be more room to worry.

That post mad me laugh hysterically, has TV desensitized me? I can just imagine the look on peoples faces when you pull up to pick up your child from school.
