I assume you just pull the hose connections from the TB and replace it with the coupler. I guess there's no harm is leaving the TB tube connections open.

If you want a bypass coupler call Kineitx. They send them out with the new SSV manifold. You can see if they'll just sell you the coupler. It works perfect.

anyone have pics of the parts needed or a link for the bypass mod? i want to do this also....and since i live in cali there is no need for the coolant to be running through the tb. this is mainly for colder weather applications to keep the tb from sticking.

thanks

hahahhaa...you beat me to my post zul8r...i will check them out

Road Warrior,

Here's where I first learned about this idea:

http://www.g35driver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49465

You'll have to register to read it though. I believe it's MY350Z's sister site for the G35.

So basically, it's two fittings with a short length of pipe between them, right? Are the hose connections barbed or smooth?

if you do a search on www.homedepot.com for "hose splicer" that gives you an idea of what you need, but i can't remember the hose diameter size. Works fine....cheap

The HD site shows one at 1/4", isn't the bypass hose 3/8" ?

Those barbed fittings are pretty common - ought to be able to get the correct size at a decent hardware or plumbing supply shop.

with the gaskets being 1/8 inch thick, i wonder if it will alter the powerband... the runners would be 1/8 inch longer on the intake manifold and the plenum would be 1/8 higher. I am mainly looking for power up top, i wouldn't want to sacrafice hp for tq with longer runners.

i would be surprised if this would make a difference in the way that you are talking about

the smaller ME spacer is only a 1/2 inch rise of the plenum and it makes for a 8-10hp difference. i would think that 2 - 1/8 changes in your manifold dimensions would amount to some change.

It's not the same thing. The spacer raises the 18" wide upper plenum 1/2" and provides a lot more area for the air to flow to the front cylinders. The gasket does not increase the area of the runners to the cylinders, it only increases the length of the runner by 1/8".

While in theory it has an effect, it's going to be very small because of the relatively small change in overall runner length. I doubt you could measure the HP or Tq change.

thats a whole different concept and area your talking about here. the amount of change in the gaskets is only the surface areas of where the gaskets go....not the plenum as a whole. heck, i bet there is a 1/16" tolerance when they shave the surfaces of the manifolds from the factory to make them perfectly flat.

I thought this was a set of gaskets, including one that goes between the manifold and plenum?

Nope, the NextGear set goes between the plenum and the intake manifold and between the manifold and the block.

The spacer and it's gaskets separate the two halfs of the plenum.

davesz#3 you beat me to the punch on my last post....we obviously both agree about that the gaskets increase runner length (although very minimal) and not plenum surface area

its been a great thread so far....thanks for everyone's participation, input, feedback and professionalism
