I know I'm bringing an old thread back from the dead here, but I've only recently been looking into the thermal gaskets.

Quick question/idea. Can the top of the lower runner manifold not nbe skimmed (machined down) a few mm's in order to negate any clearance issues? Anyone forsee any problems with this approach?

I want to install the thermal gaskets but already have a 1/2 inch intake spacer.

i would not do any machining on the intake itself. the intake gaskets really do keep the temps down so worth the effort...just my .02. if you run a thinner gasket you may be alright on your clearances.
