Exactly how restrictive is the stock muffler?

Exactly how restrictive is the stock muffler?
I was looking at my exhaust and aside from the silencers it looks pretty decent.
Would one benefit from removing the silencers from the cat back and simply replacing the muffler with a less restrictive one?
I have done this on other cars with great gains and 60% less money than a complete cat back?
Anyone know exactly how restrictive the stock muffler is and whether swapping it out and welding the stock tips back on to it (which I love BTW) would add gains on the mid and top end?
Would it add HP by swapping mufflers?
