Default Kintetix V4 Plenum..sounds like plastic??

Installed the Kinetix V4 Plenum. Easy install. Makes power, according to butt- Dyno. NO leaks. NO idle problems. Sounds Great, at WOT.
Question, for those that have this plenum, is it supposed to sound plasticy, or tiny, in the engine compartment? I can hear the valves, and everthing at low R's

If it is supposed to sound like this, fine..just want to make sure. Thanks in advance.

Dyno numbers to back this statement!

dave79, and speed dreams: thanks for the info. The plenum works, great! The computer has done it's checks and balances..and now the added power can be really felt! The sound is no biggie, as long as it's making power! Might try one of the spacers later on.
speed dreams: thanks for the info on FI, I want to go with the HKS supercharger systerm, a little later on..and I will keep your advice in mind.
thanks, -Al

Mine sounds great with intake and exhaust... but definitely different from the stock ceramic or aluminum one.

OK guys! figured it out, by reading a post from a while back. The strut bar has to be "tuned" to lift off the plenum. I did not realize that it (the STB) was vibrating against the plenum. 1st we, were gonna shim the STB with a washer, which is when we realize the STB adjustment nut. OMG, it's right there in front of us!! Geesh! well, one shim was too much, so we took it out, and just "tuned" it to the right height!
Like I said before, it pulls so much nicer now, and with out the vibration, and "plasticy" sound...even harder..lol !! Here are some pics. thanks guys!

How much rwhp/rwtq are you looking at with the Plenum install?

According to Kinetix, 15 RWHP when used with their cats, I will be installing them w/my TopSpeed Headers in the near future.

ha, that's the first thing i thought when i saw your thread title. when i first installd mine, it sounded TERRIBLE. the whole car was vibrating. after doing some research here, i realized my strut bar was rubbing the plenum. adjusted it, and problem solved. i really liked the kinetix. back to stock now in prep for hks sc install. btw, there are people running the same kinetix plenum with fi without problems.

Good call,we did that and still had air vibration into the plenum at 9lbs. Plastic intakes just won't hack it with f/i,your asking for trouble. In addition it didn't make any power,it lost over stock.

I went to the dragstrip with a buddy running NOS. ET was great but the car only made it down the strip once.

Why even risk it IMHO? Go Crawford and not ever worry a cent.

Is there anyway that the engine cover can be modified a little bit while using the Crawford. Im not sure where the cover gets caught up on the plenum but could it be shaved a little to fit? Also will the Greddy or ARC Strut bar fit on the Crawford.

The cover can be trimmed to fit with a Dremel or similar tool:

Not sure about the strut bar- I know the Crawford bar or Stillen bar will fit.

People say crawford because the kenitix is plastic and can break, now aside from it breaking wont it do better then crawford assuming they flow alike, because of the mere fact that plastic deals with heat better then cast iron? or aluminum?

Doesn't the Kinetix come with a warranty so if it cracks it should be replaced.
