ECU reset success sign?

ECU reset success sign?
After doing this proceedure, how can you tell if you have done it correctly?
I went out for a drive after I tried the below steps once. The car pulled much faster like it finally recognized that i had installed the popcharger and Borla TD Exhaust. I felt scared again like the first time I drove the 350Z. After just a 10 minute cruise, I notice the Distance To Empty went from 74 km to 47 km. (a sign that the car is giving more gas because it detected more air?)
But I want to be sure that I have done the prodedure correctly and it is just not me playing a mind trick with myself.
But man do I ever feel a big difference in pull now, the rev needle reaches redline a hell of a lot faster now. If this is how it feels, I recommend everyone reset their ECU whenever they put on a mod.

Here is a quick way to reset your ECU. It is also known to clear codes thrown, and turn off the "Service Engine Soon" Light. It's a little tricky, but works.
Also be sure to check our list of ECU Error Codes
1. Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch “ON” and wait 3 seconds.
2. Repeat the following steps (a and b) procedures quickly five times within 5 seconds:
--a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal (HARD).
--b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
3. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 10 seconds until the CEL starts blinking.
4. Fully release the accelerator pedal (while the CEL is still blinking)
5. Wait about 10 seconds.
6. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for more than 10 seconds.
7. Fully release the accelerator pedal (The CEL light will continue to blink).
8. Turn ignition switch to “OFF” position and now you can start the car. The CEL light should be gone.

Miraclekidjr: Never heard of that.
bigbri: Um, you can reset your ecu by taking out the battery for more then 10 hours I believe. that is the long way of reseting your ECU. And the "person" who told me about this is technosquare, the people that decrypted the 350Z ECU code. You know, the people that sales reflashing ECU services to the 350Z. Are those people good enough to tell me how to reset the ECU?
Here is the link to the technosquare site: http://www.technosquareinc.com/350reset.htm
Anyways, can anyone who knows more about this answer my question?

I got the SES light flashing, so at least I got that part right.
the first time it blinks, it blinks slowly. then after you do a certain step, it blinks a little faster.
I just want to know how you can tell if you have succedded or failed.

And no, if the car is off, there is no gas being delivered. Just a signal.

You are partially right, on any carbuerated car the carb will be trying to dump fuel into the engine if you're hitting the gas hence flooding the engine.

I can do the reset procedure with my eyes closed and no stopwatch I've done it so much
yes it helps. I think it erases the short term data so if you've done a lot of cruising lately, resetting it helps cause it'll give you all that timing advance back that the ECU takes away when cruising to give you better mpg
doing it by pulling the negative terminal on the battery is the newbie way.
You can tell it works when the SES light starts flashing at a different rate.

Sweet, I did it correctly and it was a success the first time too with no stopwatch. I definately saw a slow blinky SES light and then a faster blinking SES light.
Now I know it's not in my head, the Z's rev needle goes to redline so much faster now.
I should have done this a long time ago >_<;;
Thanks for the confirmation.
BTW: that newbie way of doing it, do you have to disconnect the negative for more then 10 hours since there should be a backup power system to keep the ECU alive for a while? Or do you just need to disconnect and reconnect the negative wire to reset it? Also, how often do you reset your ECU?

from what I understand the battery has to be disconnected for a long time. From 10-24 hours or so.
It'll reset your clock, stereo settings and trip odometer too.
The TS way takes about 40 sec if done right
I reset my ECU whenever I feel like it and whenever I do a new mod or change gas octane from premium to racing gas and visa-versa
