So then,

For our cars which is the best to get as far as power?

AEM CAI or Injen ?

Both are same price I think. I want to purchase.

Default Never Mind

I just got off the phone with Avalon Racing, "Paul."

Very nice guy. Injen's will be here next week, they sit higher than the AEM's. AEM's sit in the air damn and "pull more cold air"
Hydra Lock was mentioned.

Jim Wolf's (JWT's) are selling very good too. AEM is on back order for a bit.

When he has his hot little hands on all products (plus Stillen is making one) he is going to Dyno test all of them and post some results. Sounded like a real nice guy.

This will be a wait and see game for me!

Im confused... which sit higher the INJEN or the AEM?? As I understand it, the INJEN sits in the area behind the black grill. Does the AEM sit higher (closer to the hood than the street) than the INJEN??

Thanks...

As it was explained to me the AEM"s are more of a true Cold Air Intake because they sit down lower in the air damn. The Injen's sit a little higher. Perhaps I have it backwards, it was a quick call.

There is drawbacks to it being right in the air damn too.
Water, turbulance etc.

One of them being made/aready made sits in the factory air box!

This is the dilemna I am in Jimmy. No one has had all of them yet to Dyno them like Paul at AVALON MENTIONED DOING SO YOU BASICLY HAVE TO GO BY MANAFACTURERS CLAIMS INSTEAD OF REAL WORLD TESTS.

Sorry caps were on I'm not yelling, I'm in a hurry and being lazy.

Paul (At Avalon Racing) will soon have all 3 products and he *owns* 2 350Z's, so I am going to wait for real world results before spending my hard earned money.

Everything else will probably be speculation ya know?

Merry Christmas!

I am going to wait for Paul's comments also before making a decision.

Hey Jimmy I see that you mention the 3M bra in your signature. How's it look?

my advise:

wait for people to buy both the AEM and the injen. Then wait for them to dyno them (since they are not manufacturers). Then decide on your purchase.

Default Good Advice

But Paul is not a "manafacturer" he is a parts seller so in my opinion his suggestions would be unbiased. He doesn't make them he sells them, roughly all the same price too.

That is what I am waiting for, his tests on them.

AEM probably sits higher than Injen, I don't think you can get any lower than Injen filter from the pics we've seen. I read somewhere that JIC's filter is in the stock airbox and it makes the MOST hp? not sure, but it's the most $$$.

No one has AEM yet, need to see the actual install....

(I actually made a short CAI like the JWT filter, but when idling with a/c on, the engine is very rough... not sure why. I replaced it with stock airbox. When in WOT, it sure sounds good!)

one problem with people testing it. I find few people have a baseline on their car. making their dynos rather useless. if one guy shows more than another, he may have had more stock hp. the differences would be within 1 or 2hp. so it would be tough to choose, the best way is to test it on the same car, which hopefully avalon will do.

Do you guys really care about the 1-3HP difference? Both AEM and Injen is known to build quality air intakes that result in performance increase. So what if one has a 2HP gain over the other? Can you really feel that extra whopping 2HP? Really now, if both intakes have the same pipe diameter and located relatively close to each other, then the performance is thus equal and buying one should depend on the price. You can't go wrong with either one.

Lightbulb Design Vs. HP

Hi,

The matter is not 1-2 HP for me anymore...

I just went out and pulled my still stock air filter again. I reached my hand into the air damn all the way to the filter. LEAVES AGAIN!
I just cleaned it. So I pulled out the air filter and guess what?

The air box bottom was full of leaves, the stock filter and air box is protecting my engine!

Just imagine if it wasn't there!!

I urge everyone to consider this and check your filters to. I had started a thread on this issue just a few days ago and mine is full of leaves again already.

Original Thread click here

Just imagine a rainy windy day and an exposed filter without the air box as protection.

*This* is now my new concern, not 2 HP as you say.

I had the AEM CAI on my GSR for 35,000 miles with no problems, driving in all weather. I was very happy with the product and performance. With a CAI you definately have to check/clean the filter more often then the suggested 50,000 mile K&N interval. I would just wait for Dyno results of each. Modacar.com has both on there site: AEM $245/ Inj $259. They have some pics too.

hey max hax. the stock airbox is removed, but there is a filter on the end of the CAI. as a matter of fact, leaves would fall off it rather than getting trapped in there...

if you removed the air filter all together, you might see good gains, but only for a day or 2.

Thanks,

I'm leaning towards the AEM right now, in blue.
If anything it would look cool with my Blue Earthing Kit.

They are claiming 15HP Lol.

Anything more than what I am getting will do though.

Then I will have done exhaust, and intake and it will be time to bring on a computer chip/programmer to take advantage of it!

What's the best dealer to get the AEM from as far as shipping cost and prompt delivery etc?

Thanks again.

Just got home from a long Christmas day. Time to crash....

THis is probably what you should do. As long as you get a CAI, there will be little difference. Just get the one you think looks the best (aem for you b/c of your earthing kit).
