How much wrap is needed to do both headers and how is the wrap kept from unraveling ? Thanks Bill

Since the stock manifolds have shields, and since I have read about some forum members complaining about excessive floor heat, I have been wondering about this also.

Near as I can tell, we should use 2" wide tape. It comes in 50' rolls....and how much it takes depends on how much you overlap it. On a V8 I heard you need two rolls. Not sure about a V6.

I was windering this for aftermarket headers . What do they use to keep it from coming undone ?

I just finished wrapping my Topspeed headers. It took one 2" X 50' roll. I had about 5 ft left over.

I used safety wire to hold it on while wrapping. I then put hose clamps on each primary and one larger on each collector.

I also read that you should overlap about 1/4", this still allows the header to breath and cool down.

There are special stainless steel locking ties that D.E.I. has. They run about $14.00 for 8, 8" ties.
