Info on Lower Plenum..
I believe the new G35's that have 296 HP Got some of the HP from a redesigned lower plenum. I saw on a website this part will be for sale soon.
Anyone have any information on this? Does it realy add any power? What about being combined with Crawford's Upper Plenum?
Thanx in advance...

they are available now...
if you have a 296 hp motor... you have this plenum... adding the crawford plenum will make power on that motor with the variable intake timing...
it doesnt work the best on the 287hp motors...

Ok im confused by that.. I have a 280HP motor, 2003 G35 Coupe.. What would I gain by installing this piece? I know the 296HP motor already has it, isnt that where some of the extra 16 HP comes from? Is the piece for a G35 or 350z or both?
If the 296HP already has it and it doesnt work good with the 287HP then what does it work with?
Thanx

You get some power out of it... but you mostly change your HP / Torque curve out of it...
I gained 9RWHP with the lower track plenum but will gain more if I raised my RPM limiter...

more top end power...
loose some very low end torque, but its not really usable down there anyway so not a big deal...
If you raise your rev-limiter you will make more power up to the 7200 RPM or what ever you set...

Do you have a dyno? Do you have a upper/lower plenum combo or is that 9HP from lower?
I allready have a Crawford V5 Plenum. So your saying if I add the lower that I can see some pretty good gain's in HP from 6K+... Is that 9HP gain peak power or max increase?
Im sorry for so many questions.. But this is a new product and im sure there is a lot of people who will be interested in reading about it..

Im sorry I must have missed that thread. Iv been off the boards for a while.. thanx for the dyno..
Im still a lil confused by your statement tho.. I dont want the stock upper plenum from a 296HP motor. Im just asking how will this mod work on a 280HP motor with the Crawford upper plenum already done..

If you have the 296HP motor... It has the Lower Plenum on it from the factory... This motor benifits from the Upper Intake Plenum Mods...
If you have the 280HP motor... If the 296HP motor lower plenum is installed you gain HP and raise where your Peak HP is made... If you add the Upper Intake Plenum it may or may not add HP...

KK I understand now.. Thanx for explaining... I would realy like to see some tests with a 280HP motor car swapping the lower plenum for the one that you offer and also add a Crawford Upper plenum.. I dont want to buy a lower if it isnt realy going to do anything cause I already have the Crawford piece.
Does anyone else know more on this? Or tested?
All I need is some evidence of a power gain with both and ill push that buy it now button sooo fast lol
Thanx again Jason! Because of your help and support iv bought most of my parts from you! just to let you know....

Dude I have the 05 track lower plenum and I saw 15 rwhp from it after I got my reflash. I set it at 7200 rpm and it pulls strong at 5500rpms. But since you have the 280hp motor if you combine the lower plenum with a Crawford upper one you actually lose power or not gain anything because its too much air volume for the ECU to read. Hope this helps. Just nake sure you do a reflash if u decide to get the lower plenum.
You think it will be too much volume? Not sure about that considering that the Crawford only adds more air to the front 2 cylinders. And the lower is redesigned to allow better air flow.. Im not going to put the stock Upper back on and replace the lower.. Hopefully someone out there will dyno this..
I think the new lower plenum is designed to get more air to to front cylinders, that's why the 296 engines don't benefit from the upeer plenum quite as much. You have to decide whether you want an upper plenum or lower plenum, but not both.
Dont get both... you probably won't see anything. Get the lower plenum if u are willing to sacrifice a lil low end torque that you wont even feel for a rush of top end power. Just make sure you reflash to take full advantage of it. Plus the lower plenum is street legal since it's an OEM part... that's why I put it in my Z.
