Default Quick exhaust question for everybody...

My g35 was totalled recently. I'm contemplating on getting a 350z. I love the exhaust note on em. But I was wondering if getting a y-pipe and highflow cats would make the exhaust louder. Most aftermarket exhausts lose that nice high-pitched tone. Get back at me guys

Sorry to hear about the G35.

Any modification improving the flow of air in or out of the engine will make the exhaust more loud. The tone remains the same, but the volume increases. Keep in mind that you are keeping the OEM resonators and muffler (those are the two sound deadening items, not the cats).

So you suggest I change out the muffler? I really like that sound though... What do you think?

If you’re interested in performance, look at a cat-back exhaust system. If the like the OEM sound, then keep the OEM exhaust.

Damn man... Never really thought of it that way. I guess I'll read up on the nismo weldina exhaust. I'm gonna assume thats the closest sound I'll get to stock. I wonder if it's louder. Thanks for your help man

Go with the Nismo exhaust. Sounds just like stock but louder and meaner.

+1

The Nismo is not obnoxiously loud but it's definitely louder than stock, more growl. HF cats will definitely make any exhaust system louder. Some combinations have a raspy sound which some people don't like.
