Default JIC or Tanabe Y-Pipe?

Getting my Top Speed Pro-1 Exhaust in a week or two, and thinking of purchasing a Y-pipe as well. Which of these 3 would you recommend? Which one seems to have a better design for flow? Is the Tanabe piping 2" > 2.5" cause it says 60mm & exit 70mm on measurements and 70mm is less than 3" I Believe. If so I don't think I"ll be getting the Tanabe. Anyone else that's running something else with other Y-Pipe recommendations?

Tanabe

JIC

Hmm looks like JIC is winning, it does look like a straighter design afterall.

I believe 60mm is 2.36. So 70 is probably upwards of 2.5".

I dunno, the Fujitsubo & Gruppe-S one looks restrictive at the end where it bends almost 90 degrees before getting to the flex part.

I don't know of any website that sells the Top Speed Y-Pipe, and I've never seen pictures of it. Even Top Speed's website doesn't have a picture of it lol

The Ultimate Racing one looks good design wise, very straight through. I think I read somewhere that people said it'd have problems with leaking from cracks due to it's less flexible design? I dunno about that, it doesn't look any less flexible than the other 2 that's for sure. How much flex can you get anyway outta stainless steel?

its not the steel that is meant to flex, is the weaved stell section. it flexes and bends quite nicely.

seems like the pipe will flex better in the weaved section is closer to the middle of the pipe. that z1 flex sections are right at the ends and may not be as flexible as others.

ive got the jic pipe, love it.

well its probably better to have the flex sections closest to the engine as possible to absorb the vibrations/movement.
as for cracking, i had a fujitsubo style (gruppe-s) ypipe and it cracked at the center welds. I now have the JIC ypipe, no problems (yet).

think about this.......torque. When the y pipe gets torqued(from engine startup, wot) : The greater the distance from the pivot point(flex section) that the torque is applied, the more torque the y pipe's flex sections can absorb before reaching their critical overflex boundires causing the pipe to crack.

Just a little lesson in mm to inch conversions

1 in = 25.4 mm

so... 60mm = 2.36" and 70mm = 2.76"

Hope that helps everyone out...

Along with my Pro-1 exhaust, I also have a never installed Intense Motorsports Y-Pipe for $175 shipped (retail is $199 shipped) if there is any interest.

I know, I still need to get a better y pipe in a long run such as JIC, UTR or better. Is your JIC pretty reliable?
