Nismo cold air intake
Want to mod my 2005 silverstone grey roadster. It has silver nismo 18" wheels and that is the only mod thus far. Not even a mod since I bought the car with them on from the dealer when it was brand new. Does nismo make a good cold air intake compared to others on the market. I just like the idea of having the dealership put it in and not voiding my warranty. Any feed back is welcome.
I don't have a CAI but based on what I read the Nismo is pretty good. It is R-tune so technically it will void your warranty (your dealer may be nice if they install it, but other dealers will give you a hard time). The disadvantage of the Nismo is that the filter is difficult to remove for cleaning when compared to some alternatives such as the Popcharger. That said, I believe the Nismo's appearance to be much better than most of the competition. Nismo is expensive but does include a water diverter. There are several discussions, you should prob do a search.

It's a piece of cake to just remove the front splash guard under the car and then reach up to remove the filter. I don't even have to jack my car to do it. Takes like 5 mins.

Did you pull it off and clean it and right away reinstall OR did you just buy a replacement and remove and install? I am thinking about buying a replacement filter so I can simply raise the car, pull of the wheel and replace it. Then when I have the time clean the old one and re-oil it for the next replacement. Does anyone know where I can purchase a NISMO CAI Filter only?
Z Ya!
I think you guys make it harder on yourselves than you need to. I just removed my AEM CAI and all I do is remove the front-right splash guard and I can get the filter off and out without even lifting the car. Takes about 5 mins and 2-3 choice curse words.

I used to have the AEM, but it's back in the box now and will never be used again.
I really liked the AEM but we've been having some flooding around here lately. Oregon = lots of trees = lots of leaves on the road = clogged drains = lots of water puddles.
I replaced it with the JWT just to be safe. If the AEM doesn't sell I'll happily put it back on once things dry up a bit. It had a way cooler sound IMO (no pun intended).

I just installed my NISMO CAI this weekend. I consider myself to have very minor mechanics skills and managed to do the install in 2.5 hours. My 2003 Z has a little more pep to it.
Other than that, it was a good first perfomance mod. Next up, a new exhaust.
