Insulated stock CAI
well... good idea... but ghetto as all hell. there is a limit where form takes presedence over function. I couldnt do that to my car. the possible gains in temp just arent there. the stock box is plastic, hardly a conductor of heat.
Here's a PT Cruiser that had good results from a similar mod:

However, I think a lot of the improvements are related to the air dam/heat shield he made around his K&N filter rather than just insulating the intake piping.
Since we already have what is essentially a cold air intake I don't know if we'd see any improvement with insulation or not.
It looks ugly but it might be a good thing to do in preparation for a track day or especially drag racing. Should be easy to add/remove. Might also be good if you have to drive in stop and go traffic.

Oh man! LOL the only thing this does it makes the intake stay cooler for a bit longer but makes your engine bay look like ***!! IMO I would rather invest on a Cold Air Intake that will actually gain horsepower and also add a bit of flavor to the engine bay.

hey man, sorry to dampen your parade, but i have a feeling you may be trapping heat in there by using aluminum... may be preventing heat radiation from the pipe. If your into the drag scene, people wrap their headers with some kinda fabric material to keep em cool, but thats cause they are metal, and it is making a direct connection with the heat source, thus sending the heat THROUGH the material, not trapping it underneath...
But dont take my word, i didnt stay awake much during physics class... lol
