Default Borla TD catback + Kinetix HFC = The Win

I just installed Kinetix High Flow Cats to go along with my Borla TD cat-back and I am very satisfied! The plan was to get the HFC and headers installed but I don't have the money right now for labour on the headers so I will wait until spring.

First, I can't believe how restrictive the stock cats are compared to the Kinetix. The stock cats work on a double filter technology. There are two filters for each stock cats. the Kinetix only has one per cats. The Kinetix feels half as light as the stock one, (Kinetix cats are 17lbs put together) . Haven't got an exact wieght of the stock one.

Second, the sound. the combination with the HFC and the Borla is amazing! It didn't change the sound of the Borla, it just enhanced it. Making it more agressive and IMO, heading towards the sound of a V8. It's frikin porno.

Now for performance. I'm afraid it's hard for me to notice a difference because lately, it's about +2 to 0 degrees outside and the car is just faster already. I feel in this weather I get to redline so much quickly in first and second. So it's hard to say if the car feels faster because of the HFC or because of how cold it is outside.

I hope this helps anyone deciding on what to get. Next spring the Megan Racing Headers will complete my exhaust sega.

Did some more testing today, the HFC enhances the Borla sound when going under 4,000rpm... But when you go any higher then that, wow. It is loud! I think a scared a guy in an SUV when he was pacing me to look at my interior. I stomped on the gas to go over 4,000rpm and I think he nearly had a heart attack. So if you don't want it very loud after 4,000rpm. then you might want to reconsider HFC.

As for me, I love it

I want that same exact set-up! I cannot wait...thanks for the info. Can you throw us a sound clip by any chance? Oh, and what about cruising on the highway...is there any droning?

A sound clip would be awesome! I just picked up my headers today, but I'm going to wait until I get the Borla true dual before I put them in. I have test pipes on now, so I'd love to hear your exhaust.

No sound clips, sorry. No camera. And my ralatives only have the tape cam corders. But I did go out and test it on the hihgway for you guys. First let me tell you that this is my first sports car and it's the first car I have modded, so I have no idea what "droning" sounds like. With that in mind...

I usually always have music and my windows up on the highway. so I turned off the music and put my window 1/3rd down to hear it. Now like stated above, I don't know what this "droning" noise sounds like so you have to explain it to me. All I know is that people say that they hate the "bumble bee" sytoms that testpipes gives the car. I definately do not feel like it's an annoying bumble bee sound(a vibrating buzz). I feel it is just the Borla except a few notchs louder. And when it is on the highway, it smooths out because you are on the higher gears.

Now that I have tested more, I have to say that the loudness is around 3,500rpms and up. And now I can actually feel a performance difference. It's the power curves. I feel like 4th gear up is faster at gettting to redline then before. It now feels like the power curve is gaining evenly and not slowing down at 4th gear and up.

Hope this helps.

I have a copied Borla TD from cats back, HiFlo cats are my next mod but since I already have Crawford and I am local (they will install) I dont have a lift I am going with the Crawfords but I already lost some T/Q down low with the TD.Will I lose more with cats due to even more less restrictions?? Oh well I think I will anyway Doug talked me into it.
