The reason I don't like CAI is because cleaning the filter is a hassel unlike the popcharger. 1 day my friend pop off his CAI on another type of car and the filter was hella nasty. Then I think of it like this. Imagine a straw w/ a hole somewhere on the tube like a CAI preventing hydrolock with a bypass value. Now Imagine if the filter got wet and the only air the engine could suck in, is through the bypass value. When materials become wet air doesn't pentrate as well, if not at all. So my decision was the popcharger from day 1 and of course for the money, it is the best bang for it's buck compare to any other CAI or Short Ram. I also concur with Alberto was saying about the air isn't as smooth flowing!

Did the temp/humidity change in that week? Also, Dyno with the hood open and closed, The pop charger looses alot of that dyno power with hood closed. When its open it has a free shot at alot of air from where the hood normallt seals it off. I've personally seen -5 HP in back to back to back pulls, Open, closed, open. The numbers were like 241, 236, 240. Just opening and closing the hood. Also, a few weeks later, the same guy installed a CF air scoop in the front that ducts to the filter through the bumper. Then it was only about 2 HP with the hood closed. At speed, I'm sure the forced air would add a little power.

Shop owner of where I dyno told me the CAI on the Z is way to long, and that there is too much turbulence in the intake with CAI's and the plenum. He asked "if you had two guys drinking water out of two cups, one guy has a short straw and the other guy has a long, curvy straw of the same diamater who would win?" I said the short straw, direct shot, less force on the guy to suck up, he said same goes for air and your motor. I thought it was BS but I spent $100 and redyno'd 1 week later, it worked, and throttle response was way better. I wouldnt recommend a CAI on a Z to anybody now.
