I've done the exact same thing, but I used a dryer duct instead. Believe it or not, I can feel better response with it on esp. in colder temperatures. My intake also got much louder after I did this custom setup. I have a grill covering up my duct so it's not even visible from the outside. I'll post some pics later if I have a chance.

Funny post. At least paint the drier tubing black or get something dark so you dont downgrade the looks of your Z. BTW dont forget to pickup the Tornado, along with drier tubing can add 37rwhp at speeds in excess of 210mph!

perhaps you can wrap a dryer sheet over the front of the tube to help with filtration.

are you going to be offering a kit?

OMG BWHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA that was priceless! Might I suggest Downey, I've heard they had the best flow characteristics.

nice effort, looks really bad though...

your next step would be to paint the tube matte black and get a rectangular duct to fit on the end, so it looks a little more stock.

try taking the "dryer filter" out of your dryer and slipping it into the OEM filter box...bbbwhahahahaha... just kidding with you. throw a K&N filter in there and call it a day if you already haven't.

one of my earlier mods! Removed now since my supercharger installed.
Painted it black & you can barely see it!

Heh, i did this one time at the track. I lost 2/10 of a second on average. What you have done is taken the airway and restricted it from the natural 3 feet or so down to 4".

Why so many haters? This is the same basic concept of other CAI's like the AEM or K&N and pretty much does exactly what this duct included with the Blitz intake costing over $600 does: http://www.i-m-racing.com/blcasukit35.html Evo-R is in the process of making these ducts out of fiberglass, too. So what if this guy wanted to do it on the cheap? Not everyone has to have flashy CF and Al parts under the hood.

I'm actually more interested in whether a duct like this is more beneficial in providing good cold air flow to the intake or a panel such as this: http://www.i-m-racing.com/aucafirapa35.html

Bailyrx, where'd you get that scoop that feeds the dryer duct?

I've been thinking of a way to get the most cold possible air to my pop charger. I keep going back to the Varis air duct. I don't know what could be better than that. Now I think I'm going to pull the trigger on the Varis for my next performance mod. Oh, hold on, right, the dryer duct and some black paint. How stupid could I have been? That's the answer.

1. People have mentioned that they have already done something similiar and have taken it off due to HP loss.

2. The dryer hose is not a smooth tube but has bumps/dips every coupe of inches like someone has mentioned.

3. The dryer hose could potentially be restricting airflow like someone has mentioned.

4. Get a popcharger and varis air duct, problem solved.

So all these "haters" also have been giving some information like the above points as well as giving opinions of them disliking the mod.

PS: I'm not a fan of CAI, I have the air ram(popcharger) and will be installing the varis air duct when it comes in the mail.
