Default plenum or plenum spacer?

I don't understand which one would be better, putting in just a plenum spacer or just getting a new plenum (like a crawford). I see some people getting just spacers and some getting a plenum I'm just wondering what's the better deal. Thanks guys.

go to the intake exhaust forum and read any of the 1000's of threads on this already... or better yet, use the search button (mouseover "Forums"... it's the second option down)

mmm it sounds like spacer is the preferred choice here. what about the plenum? isn't it leak-safe unlike the spacer?

i'm assuming most people get the spacer because of $$.

Leak safe?

With new plenum...
stock Lower plenum, stock gasket, new upper plenum.

with spacer...
stock lower plenum, stock gasket, new spacer, new gasket, stock plenum.

How can you say a new plenum is leak-safe when it works on the same principle. There is a gasket that is between the lower and upper plenum. With the spacer, there is the gasket, spacer, gasket. If you are saying with there spacer it will leak, then you are also saying with a new plenum, it can also possibly leak.

I started with a spacer (AAM) but after hours of trying couldn't get it to clear strut bar and still keep the strut bar from hitting the hood under acceleration.

Went with the crawford plenum & strut bar, very happy.
