its easy, take off the filter, use soapy water and a soft bristled scrub brush to remove the dirt on it. rinse well in clean water. re-oil filter generously, then wrap in paper towels and fill inside with paper towels, let dry in sun for at least an hour or two and reinstall. be sure to make sure that the entire filter gets oiled well and that the oil is mostly dried with the towels.

if u put it on there and the oil gets on your maf most likely it will fry it so make sure its dry. just use k&n recharge kit, can be had at most auto stores for about 10$

+1 on the soapy water. I stick the filter on the end of a leaf blower. Dries in a couple of minutes. I don’t have a special spray: just WD-40.

After reading the above responses, powertrip had it close.

Let dry completely
re-oil filter
but not generously, it does not need to be wet and then lifted off by towels, it should be lightly sprayed and allowed to soak in and spread. If you saw them do it at the factory you would be surprised how far a little oil goes.

if u put it on there and the oil gets on your maf most likely it will fry it so make sure its dry. just use k&n recharge kit, can be had at most auto stores for about 10$
and

just WD-40.
filter oil is way more tacky than wd-40 and tacky is what you want. I would be surprised if there is any wd-40 left on the filter after a few hundred miles.

Really, following the link posted by TheLastSpartan is your best bet.

Chris

yeah... don't make the mistake i did and put oil on wet filter, it won't spread well and it wont dry and stick to the fibers and itll get sucked into ur manifold. when i took my manifold off, there were blue droplets all over the place...explains the large amount of smoke coming out of my exhaust for a week :-o.
