Default Do I want ceramic or ss headers? differences?

Hey guys,

Due to my limited budget, im getting the dc sport headers, and was just wondering what the pros/cons were of getting the ceramic (cheaper) headers as opposed to the stainless steel ones. Ive heard that id have to wrap the ss ones, is this correct, and if so, how much does that run? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Shahin

I have polished stainless steel headers. They’re beautiful but unfortunately you cannot see them. The objective of ceramic coated headers is supposed to heat resistance. I don't quite understand this benefit: the heat has to go somewhere. I can give you a note of caution about buying headers them having them coated. Make sure whoever does the work keeps the coating out of the oxygen sensor ports. If not you'll have to tap the ports before installing.

If you live any where near salty air from an ocean or where they salt the roads from snow... GET THE STAINLESS STEEL no questions asked...

If you are in a not so humid envrionment away from salt, go with the ceramic coated...

You dont have to wrap any header, you can... but its not a requirement...

Here is a link to some exhaust wrapping material...

I have the ceramic on my car now for 45000 miles, no problems... love them... CARB certified in CA... all I could ask for...

The Ceramic are MILD Steel coated with a ceramic coat to keep the Mild Steel from curroding.. If you chip off any of the ceramic coat that steel will rust and currode... hence keep away from salty envrionment...

the stainless steel headers should last you the life of the car... if you do scratch stainless still it can still rust...

Will wrapping ceramic headers help with heat ? And will the wrap hold moisture , to rust the header ?
