I have the megan testpipes and the quality is just as good as any other test pipe w/ resonators I have seen. If you go w/ test pipes be prepared to smell fumes if your outside the car or have the windows down at a complete stop. I just got my testpipes and my injen catback exhaust installed this weekend. Your talking about it's mean and loud but I love it! Around town I don't get on it because I know I could get a ticket for it being loud but once I'm on the highway....it's pedal to the medal.

I've heard test pipes on stock exhaust and it sound pretty good, but honestly I don't like how quite it is when you get on it hard. I want to hear the car scream/growl and not have a ricer sound if you know what I mean. I thought about headers and I heard they are a b**** to put on. Uninstalling the stock headers I heard rumors around 4+hrs just taking them off. But hey if you decide to put those headers and testpipes on your stock exhaust, be sure to make a sound clip. I know alot of peeps would love to hear it.

I can't wait to test out the megan resonated pipes. The nismo exhaust just isn't loud nuff for me. I heard those fume smell will go away after 1 month or so. But my will throw a CEL since it's an 04' 1/2, hope those non-foulers will correct it with no problems.

The smell will go away somewhat...but it'll always be there to some degree - my experience, anyway. I had the Megan resonated TPs on for a good while with stock exhaust. Loved the sound and power at WOT, but the rasp between 3 and 4k and the smell eventually got to me. I now run stock cats with the secondary gutted. Good compromise for me and no smell or rasp. Not as much power though. :-)

To be totally honest I can't hear no rasp on mines even if I had it a little bit. My injen super ses catback w/ the test pipes makes my exhaust real throaty and deep at low rpm and starts to get ready to scream if I decide to pass 4k rpm. My impression was the resonators was built to stop the rasp that's why I chose a testpipe w/ resonators built in them.

Great info. Dg I guess for the price of those test pipes it's hard to resist not testing 'em out. If the cancer cause smell doesn't go away then it's prolly better off with the aftermarket HF cats.

i've had the Megan resonated test pipes for about 6 months now. the initial smell burns off about a week or so; mostly due to the packaging/oils on the piping. i still have a pretty "rich" smell coming from the rear, but it is not noticeable from the cabin. from the looks of the test pipes, the welds, stainless steel, flanges- all looked just as good as anything else i have seen. there are some horror stories of the joints cracking at the welds, but (knocking on wood) i have not experienced that yet. for the money, i figured what's the worse that could happen- even if they are a bit raspy (which i do experience a little, the usual 3K or so). they most likely are a little raspy compared to high flow cats, but not as raspy as straight test pipes, and flow damn near as good. now, granted you have to factor in the weight of the extra $250 in your wallet you save versus the HFC...

Yea that sucks working with jackstands doing the exaust. I did it that way when installing the cat back system.

I'm in the same boat as you. I have the megan resonated test pipes but don't have them installed yet. I am going to have a bracket welded onto the testpipe to take the strain off the welds.

Will you get that smell if you install high-flow cats?
