I would take it to a shop... HEADERS are a PAIN in the *** to install, It took me close to a week to do it.. Also you get what you pay for so go with a shop that is dedicated to 350z's like MRC, also you gotta keep in mind every loyal shop always warranty's their work. Also go with long tube headers... great gains and performance.... Crawford or Nismo!

We like the XERD full length headers..Very good welds and quality.

the only long tube headers for the 350 out, that im aware of, is the xerd. crawford and nismo are shorties. though the crawfords are about the best of the bunch in the shorties.

i had the xerd's they replace both the header and catalytic converter. great product, i loved them.

Were not idle, we actually booked 2 weeks out and it is January...
Perhaps you have our shop mistaken for a back alley Honda Shop...

Actually you asked me in person in November at Valley Forge,You then Emailed me once, and PM'd me once..That is 3 seperate price quotes all the same...What exactly makes you think we are "desperate" for work to let the customer name their pricing?

Unfortunately headers are one mod that falls into that exact category,thus the lack of popularity in the last 2 years..Plus the minimal gain they produce on 80% of the cars that install them. Headers are one of those things that unless your willing to go ***** deep, they are a waste of time..And money.

But the only thing that might hurt with the LONG TUBES...Xerd you might lose low end torque but make more high end hp.... Where the Crawford( I still have them with my TN kit) Gave me solid gains throughout the entire powerband Hp and Tq... Like I said before if you have the money Crawford would be the way to go... or Xerd dont even have to worry about cats or anything and they are LOUD!! if you like that!

The good thing we liked about the XERDs were that they eliminated one extra connection between the cats and exhaust, a potential leak on aftermarket headers.They were not loud at all and we were able to tune the car to keep the HP down low and make 17 peak hp..

400 Is VERY reasonable for the header install.. especially to do it right..

To the guy installing the headers,

The toughest part of the header install is getting to all the nutts.. Most of the studs will come out. I replaced all studs with bolts to ease the pain for next time.

I didnt replace the gasket. The gasket is metal so I got rid of the oil residue with a VERY fine grit piece of sand paper and carb cleaner. But if I did it again I would replace them.

Pulling apart the steering column is a sinch.

Go buy a straight edge and BE SURE that header is straight. My first set of DC's were a little uneven and they were brand new.

Be sure you go out and get 5 quarts of oil and some anti freeze before starting this project.

If you are doing it yourself and have a clue it will take you 6-10 hours depending on your skills.

The only draw back of XERD is if you want to go with a turbo in the near future.

Otherwise they are my fav.. But I planned on a turbo

u know j, if ur so worried about the price, do it yourself. 400 is a very reasonable price for a shop to do the headers on this. just bc david payed 200 does not mean anyone else can get that deal. guess what? i payed 150 to get mine done, but i had a friend do it at my house and i helped him, he is a mechanic...networking pays off.

keep in mind mrc has bills to pay, dont expect them to negotiate a lower rate just cuz u think its not fair. some shops will negotiate lower rates but usually only for big ticket jobs like engine rebuilds or turbo installs where the bill is in the thousands of dollars.
