i have the k an n typhoon...but if price is not an option then go with the gruppe m...lol.

but seriously, the typhoon i believe is just as good as any short ram set up out there (afe, fujita, gruppe m, pop, stillen, etc.)...i mean it's just a conical filter and a tube. yes the typhoon has a snorkel that supposedly acts like a cold air system but after looking at it i don't see how it can bee too effective unless you are going 50mph or more....the snorkel creates a 90 degree bend from the grill to the airbox. it's going to take a lot to push that cold air into the 'hot' box in the engine.

from experience the intake does perform well especially up top. as for sound i have heard louder intakes (the hisss and psshhh sound is a bit muffled because of the box). the dynos show a 10.1 whp (at over a span of 200 rpms..lol) but i think it's around 3-5whp avg throughout the band.

i like it. but i reccomend you spend around 150 max for it (used, they still work the same regardless) and use the other $70 for something else....

like i said i'm a bit skeptical with the cold air snorkel as the beds seem to be too sharp for effective airflow...but davidv's time slip confirms a 2/10's a second faster with just the inatke alone (am i right david)...and i would put more weight on tack times than over a dyno...

Correct. The headers and high-flow catalytic converters were installed November 2005.

I selected the K&N Typhoon Air Intake because it met my requirements:

1. Ambient air from outside the engine bay.
2. Filter inside the engine bay for convenient removal and cleaning.

i wonder if a popcharger like filter would improve air flow....this is why i made the fujita thread.

ive wondered the same..however i feel that lowering intake temps by 5 or 6 degrees wouldn't do much for hp increases... i'm also against CAI's because the way the cone is positioned is totally against the way its supposed to suck air in (from the funnel).. the engine has to suck harder to get air to change direction. I would've left stock intake box if it were louder . I like induction noise (i felt no increase w/ intake at ALL, nor did my friend w/ his injen intake)

+1 Best design....

That JWT will draw hot air from under the hood since that heat shield doesn't cover the whole filter.

Sound is awesome!

I really like my Stillen airbox with a JWT filter inside, instead of the Stillen(KN) .
