Question What is the thickest plenum spacer out there?

I am wondering what the thickest spacer there is out there. I am not concened with retaining the strut tower bar. I am mostly concerned with the stock hood clearence.

From what I can gather, there are 5/16" and maybe a 1/2". There are also some angled spacers wich I would need a demensions for the front and rear.

I am interested more in the size, than brand. If you guys (gals) could give me some demensions, even including thermal gaskets that would be great.

Thanks
Brandon

Motordyne offers both a 5/16" and 1/2" spacer.

Altered Atmosphere has a 1/2" tapered (down to 1/4" at rear).

The Isothermal Gasket will add about another 1/16" in overall height to the plenums.

Thanks for the quick response.

So do you think that the 1/2"spacer plus 1/16"gasket is the largest out there.

I am looking at gaining the most volume, because I think this will be best for my aplication.

the 1/2" is the largest I've heard of, however you'll have to get a new strut bar, you won't be able to reuse the engine cover and you'll need to either get hood spacers or a new hood.

Skunk2 Racing's 5/8" spacer is the thickest we're aware of. Bigger & thicker is not always better. You might check out the Shootout in the latest issue of Sport Z Magazine.

I used the AAM 1/2 spacer and my strut bar worked as did my engine cover and hood so I have no idea where you got your information.

How true - Tony from Motordyne freely admits that the amount of gain when going from 5/16" to 1/2" is mimimal.

+1. The difference between 1/2 and 5/8 inches is only 3/8 inch, but the effects on both the horsepower and torque curves are revealing. Thanks to your plenum shoot out.

Not to bust your ***** buddy but 1/2" =4/8" wich would mean 5/8" is only 1/8" difference.

Please lets not turn this into a debate on wich is better or not. This is not really what I am looking for.

Thanks for the imput guys it is much appreciated. In the next couple of months you guys will see why I whanted this info

I made a typo. Correction:

The difference between ½ and 5/16 inches is 3/16 inches.

my bad, I should have been more specific. the AAM spacer is an angled spacer if I'm not mistaken, which is the reason that it allows for the the stock strut bar (w/added washers) and cover to be used. I don't know of any 1/2" non-angled spacer that allows for the stock strut bar and cover to be used.

Brandon,

I covered the 350Z Strut Bar fitment issue in the Plenum - Spacer Shootout. A hint... 1/2" and above won't allow use of the stock bar.

You can get an issue on line -- http://www.sportzmagazine.com/Z_Order.htm

No more hints.

I don't think anyone has done tests on that yet, but based on the current info I'd say the 1/2 would give you higher gains. but no, you won't be able to use the stock strut bar w/ the motordyne 1/2 spacer. however USN HM 350z said he was able to use the 1/2 AAM spacer w/ the stock strut bar so perhaps that will work. however I would suggest going w/motordyne based on my experience.

I have the Motordyne 1/2 inch Iso-Thermal spacer and am using a stock strut bar. The install was done by 350Evo, BJ said all he did to use it was put on some washers and it fit.
