The Injen Super SES Cat-Back Exhaust System sounds like this…

Is that what you are looking for? Or a bit more nasty?

^^^You're pretty good at it, I can even hear it... You may edit a sound file for every exhaust out there

dammit - I hate when videos don't work. I really want to check that out, but since I have a Macintosh, these things never work. Anyone else here using a Mac and unable to view this? *#@(#$*&%&Y

Default Borla?

I have an option to get a Borla exhaust - what do you guys think of those? Is there just one version? I don't know that much about exhaust systems, but I think I can get it installed for about $850 - it is actually a replacement for a Veilside hood i was supposed to get (long story). Is that a good price? Y'all think I would be happy with that one? I have a video/audio clip of the sound, but it is still hard to tell. It isn't quite as obnoxious as I wanted, but still pretty nice...what do you guys think of this one? Anyone have any closeups of theirs from the back?

Based on what I think you are looking for, I don't think borla is the exhaust for you. With test pipes I would think it would be pretty loud, and you might be OK with it. Just that from what I have read on these forums, the Borla for the Z isn't known for how loud it is. It is a nice exhaust, makes good power (relatively speaking), and sounds good, so in that regards I would say go for it, just don't be disappointed if it's not as loud as you would have liked. I can't really comment on the price, but I thought the borla went for less money that what you posted, even factoring in install - I may be completely wrong though.

Borla will not set off any alarms. If you want to set off alarms, don't get Borla. I got the Borla TD cat-back because I heard a fellow Z owners Borla and I loved the loud and deep rumbles her car made.

EDIT: I also knew at the time that I was gonna do a full exhaust replacement. So I didn't want to buy the loudest exhaust because I knew the high flow cats and headers would make the cat-back that I buy even louder.

Now that I have a high flow cat, the Borla TD is deep and even louder, it is a beast. We will see this Spring what an after market header will make the exhaust note like.

Good luck on your decision.

if you already have test pipes, headers will do next to nothing in terms of changing the exhaust note or volume.

Well you know what they say about opinions... you're a big a-hole. Or something like that

I happen to love my Injen but it is a bit loud on the freeway. Plus it looks fantastic and wakes up the whole backend of the car. The car had a nice *** to begin with but those pipes just sweeten the whole thing up. Oh, I do have test pipes though...

You could be right, but I don't have test pipes, I have high flow cats, I don't know if that makes any difference. Either way, I will find out in the Spring.

Trust me, it sounds like crap.

I had an analogy all lined up, but it really isn't appropriate to post - you can PM if you care to read it.

I love the look of the Stillen - if I get another one of those, what can I do to make it louder? Would "race" or "test" pipes accomplish that sound I am after? Forgive my ignorance - this is all still new to me.

No, there are two. One has a y-pipe and the other is the true dual exhaust. The price difference is around $400 vs $800 and you definitely want the true dual.

I love my Borla but before springing for an exhaust just hook up with some local Z's and hear 'em in person. That's what I did.
