Default Holy Sh**, Borla + test pipes

All I can say is wow. I just got my resonated test pipes installed with the non fouler to help the cel. No cel, no rasp and holy crap the sound is awsome. When I got the Borla TD my first impression was nice but not what I thought. I installed the test pipes and now its very deep and still pretty quite while on the highway. I'm deff in love. Now my car sounds absolutely sick. so now I gotta go drive around some more. oh yah and I can feel an increase from the butt dyno.

Glad to hear that you got the non fouler situation worked out. Do I see headers in the future?

I also have a borla. Can anyone tell me the difference between the gains from Crawford HFC or test pipes (and sound difference)? Is it worth the smell / emissions?

I've heard that sound somewhere.

But really I wish i had a digi cam so i could post up with the sound in action.
Anyone in Northern Cali (Bay Area) that wants to do that with me let me know. It does sound pretty darn good.

I went with some chepo ones. I figure for the price its worth a shot, the Megan test pipes. Time will tell how good they hold up but they sound awsome with the Borla TD. I figure for $150, can't really go wrong.

Difference between HFC and TP is minimal, about 1-2 HP's. I have the Crawford cats and love the combination with the borla.

Test pipes may pick-up a couple of more peak horsepower than high-flow catalytic converters. The disadvantage of test pipes is that you may lose a couple of pounds of torque at the low end.

350Z drivers have experienced similar results with headers.

Do your test pipes produce a gas smell inside the vehicle? I've heard a lot of people have complained about this.

i have to disagree i also just put on my megan test pipes with stock exhaust 2 days ago and ive felt a GREAT jump in torque in 2nd gear (no so much in 1st cause its still goes to fast haha) and in 4 im pulling REAL hard (which would be about the end of a 1/4 mile) so the test pipes did help a lot, not sure about aftermarket exhaust tho so cant speak for him. But the TP on stock exhaust sound amazing so far, almost FI or at least close... at first i wanted deeper like borla, but now im thinking something more along the line as injen ss haha i love this loudness

I smelled a gas like smell probably the first day, but it wasn't bad at all. A few days later and I don't smell anything. I have to say the test pipes are my best bang for the buck. Cheap and they really enhanced my exhaust sound. Deep and almost exotic sounding in higher rpms.

the real difference in flow does not occur until higher hp applications. on an na z there is little difference between hf and tp. but on a 400whp one its a lot more of a difference. keep this in mind if u plan on going for fi later.
