Default NISMO CAI GenII Installation Guide

GreetZ All,
After installing my own nismo CAI genII on my 2006 Roadster, I would like to share my experiences with the community. I have scanned the installation manual that came in the box.

I found some free file host service that will host the file for 14 days. If anybody would like a copy after this just PM me. Else, if any of the mods or some power user could attach the file to this thread that would be good.

Default My installation notes

Here are my installation notes.

2e) To remove the inlet pipe, you will need to squeeze the release located underneath the inlet pipe. Probably with a set of pliers.

2f) When removing the wiring harness from the air box, be VERY CAREFULL. Don't just pull up on the plastic harness holder,it will break the plastic tab on the air box (I broke mine). If possible, squeeze the plastic wiring harness from underneath and then pull at the same time.

2k) I had a REALLY hard time releasing the wiring harnesses. I tried to pry them up with a flat head screwdriver. They finally came out, but when I needed to use them again, they were all bent and didn't lock back into place.

3d) make sure you open those screws up, way up. This one got me stuck for a while.

3f) Grab the hard part of this wiring harness and flip it upside down very carefully. The upside down part will plug into the hole on the bracket. Since my wiring harness lock was damaged during step 2k, I had to zip tie the thing in place.

3j) Nobody really explained and I couldn't find a picture of how the CAI filter actually ends up. Here is my explanation. The filter part will face towards the inside of the car, almost right up against the bumper, closer to the air horn (see 2j). It was really hard for me to get it into place. I ended up tightening down the filter as in step 3l and then attaching it to the center pipe (seen in figure 3h).

Other miscellaneous.

I left all of my hose clamps loose until the end. I think it helped me out.

When removing the under cover for the left front wheel, one of the screws that hold the cover got caught because the thread of the clip that it goes into was wrong. I ended up ripping a piece of plastic off (not very happy), but nothing too serious.

I LOVE the way my engine sounds around 3500RPM. I'm going to have a hard time keeping it under 4000RPM, I'm still in break-in.

Best of luck to you all,

-LamaZ

PS: somebody PLEASE scan the instructions for the nismo ground wire install. This is my next project. Only nismo for me.
