Hey guys, how much whp are we talking about when we compare a average set of test pipes vs a average set of high flow cats? How big of a difference is the noise?
If you get resonated tp's the noise is the same. NA its maybe 2-3whp peak and some midrange-tp's having the advantage, I dont know what other reason than for emissions (in this case learn to do the swap yourself) anybody would spend $400 on hf cats when you can buy tp's for 1/2 and gain more. And boosted tp's do 15+whp more than hf cats its been posted.
I with I had some objective numbers, but I know of none. Test pipes will get your a couple more horsepower than high-flow catalytic converters. For noise, test pipes are a couple of db louder.

What would have more gains? Test Pipes or HFC with Aftermarket exhaust and y pipe if your N/A? Because i heard aftermarket exhaust doesn't give that much gains either and i dont wanna get exhaust and test pipes cause that might be too loud for my taste. So what you guys think would give better gains? Test Pipes or HFC and Aftermarket exhaust and Ypipe for N/A??

Even quiet exhaust will be loud if you have test pipes on. Especially when i have headers also. I dont think i ever heard anyone say they have headers, test pipe, and exhaust setup without the car being loud.

just get the resonated test pipes (i would go with labrees)and a ypipe. that combo will get you the best gains for the money. changing the midpipe will make it louder and changing the muffler is primarily cosmetic. so if you are happy with what the oem exhaust looks and sounds like, you really only need res. test pipes and a ypipe.

I think HFC's are better suited for CA because our emissions laws are rediculous. Oh by the way I picked up a white 06 Enth. model yesterday from performance nissan.
Thanks performance nissan!

Thanks performance nissan!congrats on your z!
hfc's are a good option but technically they are still illegal. you are not suppose to change your cats with anything other than an oem cat unless your car is past a certain age (which doesn't apply to us). but the chances of getting caught is probably very slim.
