Default Stillen 350Z Exhaust - 8HP,9ft.lbs

350Z REAR SECTION EXHAUST IS COMING!!!
1/17/2003 - The STILLEN Rear Section Exhaust System, crafted of Mandrel-bent, polished Stainless Steel, is a Cat-Back system designed for a long service life, and helps the Z drum up an additional 8-horsepower and just over 9-ft.lbs. of torque at the wheels. At idle the STILLEN Exhaust is rather unobtrusive. However, when the pedal gets pushed, it comes to life with recognizable throaty “STILLEN” trademark sound. It’s a sound especially associated with big horsepower & torque gains for the Z. For even more excitement, stay tuned for the soon-to-be-released STILLEN Headers.

Its a true dual too! I wondered how much horses that would free up. Its got a balancing X pipe.

B&B claims the same numbers. I wonder what the dyno sheet looks like for the Stillen set. It would be nice to compare it with MaxHax's custom system. If the performance is about the same, then I would think that the single exhaust would be better in terms of reduced overall weight in comparo to the dual muffs. I wonder about the price too!

But then majority would rather have two "muffs" than one, hehehe.

The NISMO exhaust also claims an 8HP gain. I wonder what the price difference will be.

Smile stillin

I spoke with a guy at stillen yesterday and he told me that they are getting 9 to 10 hp at the wheels with this exhaust. He also said the the price will be about $1,000, and ETA is about 4 weeks.
This exhaust will go on my car.

Since it's a dual exhaust, did he say whether new mounts are required or whether the stock mounts will work?

I'd also like to hear a good audio file of the sound.

aight man, well let us know how your mods go, youd be the first person with FI not to have an exhaust, if you didnt know, an turbo cant run properly if the extra exhaust cant flow.

some people... there is no quick cheap easy mod to get lots of power. you gotta do the basics for the advanced stuff to work. and by the way thats about 110$ per hp, intakes are around 75$, turbos are around 100$ depending what your looking at.

but hell whatever you like.

the exhaust looks awesome, cant wait to see how it stacks up to the competition.

Need sound bite before I would shell out a K for this. I'm a bit surprised at how quiet it is inside the Z, and I kinda like that as it's easy to have conversation in the car at speed.

Yeah, I noticed that earlier too, I wonder if they just decided to pull "13" out of their azz....because that would give the magic 300hp mark.....and would probably sell more.

The old figure was rear wheel horsepower. I'm guessing the new figure is at the crank. I think they did this since their competitors were using crank ratings, which is why I first thought the Stillen and the NISMO yielded the same gains. If both manufactures are correct, the Stillen will result in more HP.

don't they know the magic selling number is around $550 - $700? If they can sell in that range, I'm sure most of us wouldn't hesitate to jump on it..

but someone will buy it in no time with the current price.. just wait and see.. maybe we can do a groupbuy for a "special" price..

Being that it is a true dual....AND it is front to back, I would have no problem paying that amount. Most systems for other cars (Z32 comes to mind) would run about the same if not more.

My 3" B&B on my first TT was $1050 catback + $550 for the testpipes. A little pricey, but hands down the best exhaust for the car.

I just ordered mine. I took off of the resonator looking for a very cheap mod, but I can not stand how it sounds. I should have just ordered the Stillen Exhaust right off the bat.

I'll post again once I get the exhaust installed and hopefully put some sound clips on as well.

Hardly... There is a turbo kit out for Maximas (single) cost is about $3500 and can ADD 200 fwhp on 11 psi + some basic bolt ons. I believe right now he is running about 250 OVER stock @ 12.5 psi.

Even if you multiply the cost by two since most turbo kits will have 2 blowers etc it should at the most cost $7000 for 200 rwhp. I'm guessing something around 450 rwhp. Once I get my car I am going to shoot for something around 550 rwhp within 12 months. Take a look at the turbo kits for the last gen supra granted they have been around for a wile but I believe $11G will get you running 800+ hp @ the crank.

Doing the math thats rougly $35/hp. I personally would not be putting any money down on exhaust work until more turbo kits come out and people can verify how much back flow pressure the exhausts reduce.
