Default mehehhe APS Test pipes + APS exhaust= zoom zoom

Hehehhe i got the APS 2.5 test pipes in the other day. Sounds great. Sounds like a ferarri at start up . If i can get a good recorder ill record a video clip. It rasps like an M3 but its not too bad. Smell isn't bad either. Test pipes unleash the beast in the car.

Can you guys straighten something out? I constantly hear of the rasp and smell of testpipes, but honestly how bad is this smell? Obviously you can be biased to one or the other but some say its horrible and had to take them off. Others say its mild and you will get use to it. Personally i would love the gains and price of TP's but from the first hand accounts from memebers here saying that it has an unbearable amount of stench, is leaning me more toward HFC's.

Well lets see..ive had resonated and non-resonated so i can tell you the differences. As far as smell, for some reason, these don't smell anywhere as bad as the megans i used to have did. When i had megans i'd constant headaches. I think it might have been b/c the fitment of the flanges wasn't right on. There is a HUGEE difference in quality between APS and megan (and price). The rasp is a totally different thing. Some people like it, some dont.
Rasp will not make it sound like a civic, but something that belongs for racetrack use only. It makes the car loud, vibrates alot ect. The rasp is only at 1 point (when fully warmed up) at around 4K rpm for 200 rpm. It sounds like CRAP on the inside, but i've heard it my car when someone else drove it and i thought it sounds amazing. I think its closer to the v12 sound then when i had nismo exhaust + megans

I dont know really. When i installed the megans the passanger side was like 2mm away from the body, and when i romped on it hard, i could hear them vibrating against the body. 2nd, the placement of the o2 sensor bung was pretty crappy. If you were to use the HELP method, the 02 sensor was too close to the ground for me to be happy. 3rd, the welds blew, and megan knows it. However, they did sound good, except for this weird hiss when u let go of the gas. I had the bolts tightened at a shop, yet it still hissed.

If ur going resonated, i'd only suggest to you labree test pipes..
if your going non-res, i'd suggest xerd, aps, aam

I’m pleased the you got the exhaust. With the pop charger and intake manifold, you had plenty of air going in the engine, but the back-end was restrictive as hell. This should give you some noticeable horsepower gains.

whats up with people saying hfc's, and test pipes dont see gains on a stock exhaust? Im really only in to modding anything in my exhaust for hp. I figured by some tp's first would really help out. Am i wrong here?
You sound like your pretty happy with your setup, but what do u think was more significant. the exhaust of tp's?

There is no general agreement as to the most restrictive OEM exhaust component. I believe that it is the y-pipe.
