popcharger or nismo

I never understood why anyone would pay almost 3x the price for the same gains, I.E. JWT Popcharger ($110) vs. Nismo CAI ($290)...
I read in one of Alberto's posts somewhere that a CAI is a really bad idea if you plan on doing a Plenum / Spacer down the road. That 10whp he gained with the Popcharger was with the plenum also, I believe, not just the PopCharger vs. CAI themselves.

The only performance mod that I want the Nismo name on is the cat-back. Nismo is to other brands as is Jordan to Nike. You are paying for the name and there most likely is something of equal or better quailty.

Chop the whole lot off, and stick on some panty hose...lol
(just kidding)
Jokes aside, has anybody tried this just to see what happens. I used to have an 80cc motorcross bike, and i put panty hose over where the filter sat, and you could really feel the difference.

A CAI looks better imo. If your going strictly performance and want the most bang for your buck, then get the cheapest intake you can find, because they all are really the same. But if you want looks too then go for the cai, its that simple.

what the hell is a pop charger? Actully it should be CRAP CHARGER, IT doesnt charge anything! Gay name and really ugly proboly made by some american company, Dude you drive a 350z Get a Nismo every thing!

really the best thing to do is save some money for some F/I. Do the little mods later.i did the bolt on thing on my last car it seem to be good until i turbo it, then i was like i should have just save up untill i could turbo.

can canyone confirm that the popcharger will shut the car off if you drop the car in neutral at highway speeds. I want to get a popcharger, but I coast all the time, and was wondering, how this might affect me.

The pop-charger isnt what causes the car to stall from high rpm's when the clutch is pushed in, so much misinformation here guys. It is actually a TSB with Nissan I believe it was a faulty(improperly shiedled) crank position sensor. BTW I had a Pop-charger over 30K miles never had it stall 1X. And if you plan on doing a plenum/spacer keep it short ram. CAI + plenum/spacer = loss of hp, trust me dyno proven.

I ordered all my parts just for the N/A gains to hold me over till I go F/I. The only parts I'll lose one I SC is the PopCharger ($110) & Pully ($200). I don't think a $300 lost is very much for the gains they see. My next buy is the Nismo Cat-back & Brake Kit.

I want to say thanks guys, I was about to post the same question, but my question was going to be more like JWT PopCharger or Injen CAI? Yup, you guys are great sales men, I'm getting the Pop-Charger.

You should get a pop charger cause its american and cheap and looks like crap when you pop your hood! The cooler the air the better for the engine and the longer the piping the louder it is, GET CAI NISMO! yeah its hard to clean but it worth it! Crap chargers suck its proboly a brand that is made by OBX LOL!!!

1. American??? You're driving a Nissan
2. Cheap... Cheaper in price not in quailty.
3. Looks like crap??? This is a personal opinion. And Personally I think it looks much better than any CAI
4. Cooler air??? I'll bet you there is a minimal difference and consider that it sit in the stock location of the OEM air box.
5. Longer piping the louder... That doesn't also mean louder = better. Do releize its take more effort (while it may be minimal) on the engine to suck in the air with more piping. Its call friction loss.
6. Nismo harder to clean... Yeah... I love having to jack up my car to remove an undertray or remove my front bumper to claen an air filter.
7. JWT = OBX... You really need to do some research. JWT has been in business and working on the Z more than likely before you could drive.

They need to be cleaned more often, the risk of sucking in water is much higher, and they supposedly don't gain as much power as the short ram intakes.
