3. Looks like crap??? This is a personal opinion. And Personally I think it looks much better than any CAI
4. Cooler air??? I'll bet you there is a minimal difference and consider that it sit in the stock location of the OEM air box.
5. Longer piping the louder... That doesn't also mean louder = better. Do releize its take more effort (while it may be minimal) on the engine to suck in the air with more piping. Its call friction loss.
6. Nismo harder to clean... Yeah... I love having to jack up my car to remove an undertray or remove my front bumper to claen an air filter.
7. JWT = OBX... You really need to do some research. JWT has been in business and working on the Z more than likely before you could drive.

I hate to say it, but you truly are ignorant.

"Not wanting to mess around we put the car on the dyno immediately and recorded the biggest gains we've seen on any 350Z yet: 6.5 hp at the wheels! The driving difference was noticeable, springing a welcomed quickness to redline. To say we were amazed is an understatement. It's not that we've ever been let down by the POP-Charger but it usually gets out-gunned by the fully piped Cold Air Intake. What a welcomed discovery: the most affordable intake modification we've tested makes the most power."

All i have to say to you is WOW! You are an ignorant *******. Have an open mind about some things, just beacause your car is from Japan doesn't mean everything you buy for it needs to come from there. This isn't even worth trying to explain to you because you're that kinda person. Guys I've made up my mind and the "Crap Charger" wins. Thanks for all the help.

I'm in the market for an intake myself and this thread is relevant enough so, I understand the Popcharger is the favored intake on this site, and I can certainly appreciate the reasoning. Price and performance sounds pretty nice. I keep hearing the "whistle" description of these things though and I am not so sure that is what I want for my car. The K&N Typhoon looks like a fairly comparable product, though not as cheap. I haven't really heard much about it other than "it is loud" like most intakes. At the risk of thread-jacking, any other feedback on this one?

OK, the whistle that everyone describes is NOT an ever-present thing, at least not in my experience. If you're just cruising around town at about 1/2 throttle at the most, you're not even going to hear the PC at all, it's going to sound like a stock Z. The "whistle" appears if you hold the throttle at about 2/3 - 3/4 throttle, and isn't really a whistle, it's more of a sound of air rushing through a small opening, like if you push your tongue against the roof of your mouth and blow out (I know, strange description). And at wide-open throttle, the PC just growls loudly, sounds very mean, especially with an exhaust.
Hope that helps!

+1 POPCHARGER
I just installed mine today and am very happy.
First off, at WOT above 5k my Z sounds more like an exotic italian than a Japanese sports car. Throttle response is noticeably snappier and the whistle/pshht sound of the throttle body is pretty cool sounding too. The butt dyno tells me that I've gained a few ponies in the process as well. And for $110 with the highest recorded HP gains for any Z intake, how is it even a question?
To the guy who is bashing all things American:
Don't forget about a few quality American aftermarket manufacturers such as K&N filters, AMSoil, BF Goodrich, Michelin, Borla, Stillen, just to name a few. And of course the manufacturer of the PopCharger, JWT which stands for Jim Wolf Technology who have been tuning and manufacturing parts for some of the fastest Nissans on the planet over the last 30 years.

The pop charger is the most common 350Z bolt-on. Belittling the pop charger is ranked with calling Mother Teresa a *****.
If you have and prefer a different intake, then debate its attributes intelligently.

As for the guy bashing Jim Wolf Tech., you do realize that they've been working with Nissans (Datsuns) for longer than you've been alive? Right? There are countless turbo KA24DE 240SX's running JWT tuned ECU's, making great power and best of all, not blowing up!
Jim Wolf and Clark know their Nissans.

i'm investigating different intakes myself, so i havn't reached any conclusion yet. but check out this thread:
http://g35driver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34658
it seems like the jwt, produces higher intake temps b/c its not sealed. but i think the cars benefit from conical filters, but they need to be sealed in a box. its different on a dyno with the hood open and cooldowns between runs, than driving around in the summer and idleing at lights. i do like the jwt filter though, i think it makes power. on the jwt site, there is a pdf showing an example of how someone constructed a sealed enclosure for it. i wish jwt just sold an enclosure with their filter.
STILLEN CAI & 350Z AIR DUCT - Insulated
Air Intake System: Stillen CAI w/Popcharger air filter & Z-tube - System, including MAS Air Flow sensor, is fully insulated.
Ambient Temp (dash readout): 98F
A/C System: On
Radiator Fans: On or Cycling
Water (Coolant) Temp: 190F - 210F
Intake Air Temp @ Idle for 2+ minutes: 112-115F
Intake Air Temp @ 60mph: 107-109F
Approximate Cool Down Time: 2+ Minutes
POPCHARGER & 350Z AIR DUCT - Insulated
Air Intake System: JWT Popcharger w/heat shield & Z-tube - Back of the velocity ring, MAS Air Flow sensor and Z-tube are fully insulated.
Ambient Temp (dash readout): 97F
A/C System: On
Radiator Fans: On or Cycling.
Water (Coolant) Temp: 190F - 210F
Intake Air Temp @ Idle for 5 minutes: 134-138F
Intake Air Temp @ 60mph: 116F
Approximate Cool Down Time: 2+ Minutes
there was another thread somewhere about how CAI's make our engines loose hp. i'll try to find it.
anyway just some real info.
edit: here i found this it links to a bunch of posts: http://www.6mt.net/forum/showpost.ph...2&postcount=22
edit: can anyone with a jwt confirm that you have to drill holes to install it and the heatshield?

^^^My JWT is enclosed in the Stillen airbox, it should come with this option, otherwise you might suck more hot air from the engine, especially at the track. The metal heat shield looks like a joke. It doesn't matter if you don't care about loosing power.

JWT Pop Charger
I just installed my JWT and it sounds great w/ the Nismo Exhaust. Anyhow, when I rev the motor I can here a little whistle sound when its sucks in the first bit of air. Is this typical? I don't here it any other time but when I first rev or get into the gas. After that I can't hear it.
