Default AAM Plenum Spacer problem!!

I installed the spacer without any issues but when I fired up the car, I had an air leak in the bottom, middle bolt. I did buy this used, by the way. I reinstalled it twice and torqued the bolts correctly, but the leaking persisted.

I have one theory: the washer w/ integrated O-rings were COMPLETELY worn out and need replacing. BUT, only the bottom, middle bolt was the problem, so why aren't the other bolts leaking??

Any Suggestions??

It seems that Sport Z Magazine also had a problem installing the spacer.

Hi Plastiketa. I will send you some new o-ring washers overnight at no charge. Could you please pm me your address?

The o-rings are worn out or torn. New ones will fix it right away.

The Sport Z issue was due to the factory ECU going into a semi-limp mode.

Can you post any info from the article?

I have been emailing one of the fellows from AAM about their Spacer and they are very responsive.

I have not bought it yet but I cam close.

This will be the FIRST mod to my 2005 Z and so I am obviously nervous about doing this.

My Z is in the body shop right now thanks to some ****** who nailed the right front fender in a parking lot and I was parked in the BACK of the lot.
Course, they did not leave a note.

I figure my car deserves a present when I get it back

Wow this has me re-thinking the spacer idea , any more members had spacer
issues ? I may just go with the Kinetix V4 upper plenum.

350z9,

99% of the time you have some kind of air leak. Try to listen for a leak. You might have to retorque the bolts. I have the 5/16" Motordyne spacer but I would imagine the Skunk2 one is similar. When you start your car does it idle or die on you?

Some cars have this issue some don't. If there is a leak then they all will, but if there is no leak then some cars need to relearn the idle for some reason. After a few starts and runs it clears up.
