i bet most of the raspy loud sound comes from the 3"muffler...the stocker should be fine.

u can add a resonator after the test pipes and another after the y pipe. that'll cure ur problem. itll just sound really deep though, and loose the race car tone.

So would test pipes and a custom y pipe give some hp improvement with the stock exhaust and give a deeper sound? This sounds cheaper than a complete cat back system and keeps the stock look.

Yes but I don't think that its a problem. An free flowing exhaust is going to sound different from one which is restrictive. It goes with the territory.

Get an inline resonator. I bought a Vibrant brand inline resonator and then two straight through mufflers for my car and it's deep and loud and no rasp. Replace the stock exhaust. I had my exhaust custom fabricated with the 2 mufflers and the inline resonator and dropped about 35 pounds off of the car by taking off the stock exhaust.

The stock exhaust is most restrictive in the cats and y-pipe. So keeping the muffler stock but usinig test pipes and aftermarket y-pipe should still yield more power, and it will sound alot quieter. Maybe quieter is the wrong word, less raspier. The muffler is the part that reduces to most sound. Resonators (especially on test pipes) do nothing compared to what the muffler does.

If tru dual exhausts do not have a balance pipe it can sound like 2 motor cycles. Has anyone tried adding a crossover pipe?
