Question P Spacer

I searched but haven't seen anything on this....Motordyne is selling the 5/16th basic plenum spacer kit and the 5/16th ISO thermal plenum spacer kit. What is the difference and do I need the Iso Thermal plenum spacer (with all Iso Thermal components, Aramid gasket and CCV) in order to do a plenum mod. Basic $235, Iso Thermal P Spacer $265. Your opinions are appreciated. Thanks

I'm having the 5/16 spacer, CCV and aramid gasket installed tonight. For $30 you get the gasket and CCv which are not a part of the $235. These deliver real heat management gains, especially the CCV so the extra $30 was a no brainer for me.

How long would you expect the install to take? Say.. for a mechanically challenged dummy like me?

If you are doing it yourself, post pics and step by step instructions. Create a sticky and become famous for us mechanically challenged folks when we are ready for mods

DavidV: Oh really...Nothing was really clear . Anyway it's all good. I order the Iso Thermal plenum spacer (with all Iso Thermal components, Aramid gasket and CCV)
Rockinbboy: I will try my best. I'm not the best mechanic out there. But the instructions on the site was pretty clear. I use to mess with SR20's alot in Japan. So I kinda have an idea what I'm doing.

I had my Motordyne spacer (5/16) installed last nite. It cost $80 (1 hr labor).

I had fully intended to do it myself as directions are easy to follow. However, you need a 1 lb torque wrench and these cost $74 at Sears and I'm told that isn't even a good one. I found a tool rental place that would rent it to me but they couldn't find a rachet extension for it that I needed. Also bought wrenches (4mm and 10mm) etc in prep for the install. However, because I could not get a torque wrench any time soon, I decided to have it installed by a Z shop.

They did a nice job. i watched them do some of it and the tools they had really made the job easy for them.

I'm going to return the tools I bought so all-in-all I'm happy since it's installed correctly.

Also they installed the Aramid Gasket and the Coolant Control Valve which comes with MotorDyne's Iso-thermal spacer kit all in the same 1 hour of labor.

That's cool. I'm on a military base so I got to the Auto Hobby Shop and pay $3/hr for a bay and tools. Even though I have my own tools, they have everything so it shouldn't take me that much time.

Jaminkid:
Good luck with the install. I also called Tony Collette (of Motordyne) and even e-mailed him twice regarding points on the install that were not clear to me (e.g. The instructions call for removing/losening the 2 "guide pins" but says nothing about re-installing them. I e-mailed Tony and he explained that they are not re-installed.)

He's a good guy that gets back to you fast so you might want to e-mail or call him. His phone # was right on the parts packet that came with the spacer.
