Default Crawford Plenum

Hey all, just installed the Crawford Plenum. Everything went smoothly. All lines hooked up, everything on the way it came off. Start up the engine and there is a screaming loud sound. Almost like a belt is slipping really bad. The car refuses to idle. I can goose the throttle to keep it running, and the screaming gets lounder. When I go around to the front to look around before it died, nothing jumped out at me.

All fans moving, all belts moving. Nothing slipping. I really cant tell where the sound is coming from. I double and triple checked my vaccuum lines, and even had my roommate check all the lines. Everything is hooked up.

So, anyone have ideas, suggestions or anything? I really cant drive it because the sound is just so loud, and if something is wrong, driving on it would be stupid. Thanks for any suggestions/help!

sounds like a leak. Did you intall the internal bolts and did you remove that metal bracket labeled "M3" on the front of the lower plenum. if you dont remove this bracket it can get caught between the upper and lower plenums and cause a leak that makes the noise you describe.

Hmm I might not have removed that. I know the 4 bolts inside are in and tight. I will take it all apart tomorrow and double check that I removed the bracket. I wonder if when I was putting the plenum on it slipped back in. Thanks! I will definately check that out!

It is in the open. You can see it just by opening the hood. Another thing to check is to make sure you did not get that little lip of rubber from the oil filler cap between the two plenums.

Let me find a pic for you.

Yea those were the instructions I was following (great by the way). Anyway, thats what it was, I had taken the bolt out and loosened the wiring harness, but when I was putting the stillen brace in, it went back to its normal position, and when I tightened everything down, is when I got it caught.

Just want to add, what a great product! This is the way the Z was meant to be, past 4k rpm, the engine just smooths out and the throttle response is awesome! Highly recommend this product to everyone!!!

I love it! Thanks for point out my missing link. Guess that will teach me to install after a long days work, no matter how nice it is outside!

On an NA car, anywhere from 10-17whp...depending on your mods, and current state of tune.
