Amuse Exhaust Installed
I installed my Amuse titanium exhaust last week, and thought I'd share some pictures.
The quality and workmanship of this exhaust is truly amazing, as I'm sure you'll see from the pictures. Installation went well with exception of 1 thing. The evaporative emissions canister is in the way. I removed the entire system, and of course have a CES light. This doesn't affect the engine performance or mapping, it' just a nuisance that I'll have to live with until AEM comes out with their computer for the Z33...
No dyno numbers yet, so don't ask. I need to find some time to get it tested. It does save 29lbs, which is the main reason why I got it. The sound is terrific, and not too loud. I thought it would be louder, I'm sure it is outside of the car...

The Amuse y-pipe is not available at this time...
I will be doing my own long-tube equal length headers and custom y-pipe without cats at a later date (probably as soon as the AEM computer is available).

Where'd you get this installed?
What's the total weight on your exhaust?
Also, where is the evaporative emissions canister originally located? Is this considered another cat?

The evaporative emissions canister is not a cat, and is located behind the right rear wheel. It soaks up vapor from the gas tank with activated charcoal, and then during certain driving conditions, the vapor is pulled from this canister into the engine. This is a requirement by the EPA in our country, but Japan doesn't have the same requirements, so they don't have this canister.

You also said the exhaust saves 29 lbs. So I'm assuming the Amuse weighs about 41 lbs? Or am I mistaken...

Looks great! I believe that the HKS and Greddy System you have to remove the "canister" too. I already see the System on the Amuse Z33 in the Option Video #105, and the sound is TERRIFIC!, but I believe that the Z have the Y pipe, so is a little louder.

Looks great! This is the exhaust I've been considering for when my Z arrives. Any chance of a recording? Or a dB reading? That'll give me the best idea of how loud it is and if it'll be legal here. That's my biggest concern with these systems.

There are no long-term issues related to not having the evap canister installed. This is not something that is tested.
Vapor lock is a problem associated with the fuel in the lines turning to vapor due to excessive heat. This is not affected by the evap canister, nor is it a problem generally experience by fuel injected cars, due to the high pressures present in the fuel system.
I'm not going to give any subjective opinions on performance. The "butt dyno" test just aren't accurate. This is especially true when evaluating the exhaust due to the change in sound and volume. I'll give dyno results when I've had a chance to get it tested.
