Default Test Pipe Comparison

Hey all...was looking to buy some TP's but was unsure of which to buy. Some major ones I have heard of are APS, helix, megan, labree and intense motorsports...I have the Borla TD exhaust and stock headers...Any suggestions as to which is the best quality for the money?

I have the Labrees and I am very happy. My setup is close to your setup. I have Popcharger, plenum spacer, stock headers, Labree, and Borla TD. The exhaust sound is nice. Actually fairly quiet when driven easy but it wakes up and screams when you get on it. I have received good compliments on the sound, no one that said they didn't like it yet. I am sure there is louder out there, but this setup won't draw unwanted attention if you don't want to (from police I mean). I have read that quality on Labrees and APS are A+.

I love my 2.5" APS pipes. Really help free up my low-end power with the rest of my mods.

Do both the labrees and APS come resonated? I think I would want resonated since I want to somewhat minimize rasp. Also, the labree costs like $350 doesn't it? Is the price diff between APS ($200) and lebree worth it?

The cost is more cause the APS aren't resonated. But the APS are very high quailty and I'm very hapyy with just them on my stock exhaust.

if you want resonated, get Labree. If you don't need or want resonated get APS. it is as simple as that

Resonated ones have resonators in them to *help* control the exhaust note. Unresonated ones are just plain piping.

Anyone have some sound clips of APS? I'd like to save the extra $$ but if the rasp is that noticable then its worth it.

GO LABREES. the lack of rasp is worth it. The APS like everyone says are quality pieces but the labrees are best in my opinion. I just had them installed and my setup is almost identical to you. CAI spacer stock header (now Labree TP's) and Borla TD. check my review on them.

The resonators on the labrees won't surpress all rasp. The resonators are small and will only help to keep it down. the burden is really on the catback that your run. The whole rasp thing is WAAAAAY over exagerated on these forums. You will need to hear the exact same setup you have with both sets of test pipes in person in order to make an informed decision.

If you are going to have rasp, the labrees will just keep it down a little bit more than the APS ones will, they won't eliminate it.

I have installed Helix, APS, and Labree test pipes and the APS and Labree are much better than the Helix. The Helix are 2.25" and don't come with all necessary hardware. The APS and Labree are 2.5" and the APS ones come with all necessary harware, while the Labrees don't.

This really isn't that hard of a decision. If you honestly have a fear of rasp (which again is overexagerated unless you are running an aftermarket Y-pipe on a stock B-pipe back with those testpipes) and have the money, go for the Labrees. Otherwise, the APS test pipes are the easy choice

I agree, that resonated helps considerably but may not completely eliminate the rasp. All depends on your exhaust set up.
UTR Just released their resonated test pipes.
My friend has these mated up to the HKS dual Ti and it sounds awesome.

The Unlimited tuning look nice! but Im still happy with the Labrees if you do a search no one and I mean no one can say anything but positive things about these pipes. The rasp is almost non existent (at least mated to my borla doesn't have much rasp) I've heard them with several other cat backs and some seemed to not have any rasp at all. Like zivman said I guess it depends on the cat back your running there are some vids on here somewhere
