So...I take it the hod is hitting the strut tower bar! thus causing the "buldge" in the hood. That doesn't sound good. Please elaborate.

There IS a little bulge from hood touching the strut tower bar on the driver's side but it is really very minimal. I think most of the people on this site, like myself, are perfectionists. However, unless I point it out, people can never tell.

jwales,

I see you have the popcharger listed in your sig. If you havn't noticed a difference in plenum temperature after installation of the Iso Thermal, it is because the pop charger tends to draw in a significant amount of hot air from the engine compartment. And this air is typically air comming through the radiator.

The popcharger heat shields don't really seal too well.

As an experiment, you could temporarily install your stock air box (which is the best for drawing in cold air) and test plenum temperature against the popcharger.

One thing for sure, the plenum can never run cooler than the air flowing within it.

Try your stock air box. It will make a big difference. A difference in temperature that is easily felt.

Let me know what you find.
Thanks,
Tony

Is there any way to install this without it hitting the hood? I thought the 5/16's was designed for clearance and the 3/4's was the one that needed the hood to be raised.

Yes.
It is rare that it ever touches the hood. If it does, most of the time it only needs adjustment of the strutbar tension.

+1

one thing everyone who does the install should do is spend a little time tweaking the strut bar. tweaking here means more than just sitting in the garage with wrench. you actually need to tweak a little then drive the car to make sure you don't hear the strut hitting the upper plenum. then tweak more, etc. you should also put something like chalk or whatever on the strut bar when doing this. this will help you determine if the bar is actually touching the hood or plenum.

there is a sweet spot in most cases. it just might take some time to find it.

Haha! +1

And that is only if it your car has a tight tolerance stackup. Most can just bolt it on and drive off without having to do any further adjustment.
