Default Which Exhaust?

Basically I need to decide what dual catback exhaust will work best for me. The plan is to install
New Intake
Cams
Plenum Spacer
Headers

Ive heard that Borla can be a bit quiet but I certainly dont want a ricey sound at all. Is there a kit that someone has heard that works for these kinds of upgrades and still sounds somewhat throaty?

borla's got 2 million pieces of piping but sounds nice and deep.
nismo only has 1 million and it's purty popular. get your other breathing mods first, so you can build up some backpressure. A lot of people go exhaust first just to find out they lost low/mid torque. especially if you have a massive 3" piping.

I got great results from just the APS Test/Race Pipes. Now I'm looking at replacing the Y-Pipe. From what I readt those are the most restrictive parts on the exhaust.

I suggest that you:

a. Set a budget
b. Select a suitable design: dual with one or two mufflers?
c. Shop for a cat-back which meets your needs
d. Listen before you buy

There are several good ones out there. It all depends on what style you are looking for and the price. We recently came out with our true dual system. We will soon be releasing our new 3"single.

stock y-pipe isn't at all that restrictive - hence why people tend to loose more than gain when swapping it.

You got dyno results with that? From my reading on this and other forums it is the Y-pipe that is restrictive.

search

majority of people report that swapping the y-pipe (along w/ cats and/or headers) results in gobs of low-end tq loss.....not to mention lots seem to hvae cracked cats with aftermarket y's (?less flex?)

crappily designed plenum is #1 restriction
stock cats are #2
stock headers are #3
then probably a tie between stock catback and y-pipe
