maximize airflow by drilling a dozen quarter inch holes in the stock airbox at strategic locations.... no unwanted hissing or sucking sound with an K&N direct replacement airfilter.

Should I do this : Drlling 1/4" holes in my stock airbox?? Is this a good idea? And where do you consider strategic locations?? Probably before the filter.

The Air Intake System
... Most supercharger systems will draw air from behind the fender wall, where there is an abundance of cool air that has not been heated by the engine. Because superchargers heat air as it is compressed, a cool air supply helps to keep the charge temperatures at a reasonable level. On a non-intercooled application, the cold air pickup can lower the charge temperature by up to 60 degrees!

To my simple mind this would increase hot air flow and decrease horsepower. So either this is a very simple way to increase hp _and_ the Nissan engineers are just plain stupid, or it won't help and the Nissan engineers know what they are doing.

the strategic points would be the side towards the fender away from the engine compartment. Pop the hood and try to locate those few cool spots by hand after a short drive....i have drilled actually 13 half inch holes(not 1/4 ") in an area where cooler air would hit from underneath the air box towards the fender side. I use a K&N direct replacement air filter and it sure helps tremendously. (yes drill before the filter of course)

you won't regret it ....yes it works and you can feel the difference. The holes won't draw warm air any more than some aftermarket intake systems with heat shields.
