Default 06 intake plenum Dyno results

Below is a dyno showing the power gains that were made by switching from the 03 intake plenum to an 06 plenum.

Other mods done to this car for both runs were:
K&N intake
3inch exhaust
Cams (owner didnt tell me which model)

Looks like an easy way to pick up 20hp with a minimal sacrifice in midrange power.

wow, impressive I must say. 3" exhaust, is it single pipe or 3" true dual?

Must be the cams because that plenum typically loses power-nice gains though. I lost power everywhere boosted with this revup plenum!

I was very impressed, usually it is extremely hard to gain 20hp out of a NA engine. It was a single 3" exhaust.

Cams were in the car for both runs. The only difference was the plenum. Could be that with the cams the plenum became a big restriction though.

am I the only one who thinks that's horrible? plenum+cams should have given a heck of a lot more I'd think.

The only difference was the plenum, 20hp for a plenum is huge.

Thats weird, you were making Maximum HP at 5750 RPMS before the plenum....Most Non RevUp engines make Max UP at 6200 RPMS dont they?

Is an '06 plenum any different from the '05 RevUp plenum?

I guess, but you would still think Cams alone would move the power curve towards the end of the RPMS wouldnt ya??

Weird that with cams and exhaust you made MAX HP at around 5700RPMS.

the Rev-Up plenum has shorter runners which roughly means less torque but more breathing at higher RPMs (i.e. more top end HP).

yup.... that's why I am using the revup lower plenum too... and I re-gained the lower end to mid range torque/power by having a set of higher compression pistons...

cheers,

richie

I do not believe that there is anything wrong with the dyno (Dynoject 224XLC). Both runs were corrected using the SAE correction factor because they were made on different days.

I thought it was sketch too just didnt say anything. I personally wouldnt recommend the revup lower plenum to anybody, unless you have crazy cam specs, and are capable of safely revving high. Ive only seen 1 NA dyno that was legit and gained power with that plenum tuned, and its not yours....6200rpm power peak stock, how did the peak drop so much? Based on that alone I would throw your "baseline" out the window which means your gains arent correct.
