started pretty late last night like 7pm after the rain stopped over here...everything went smoothly lubricated all the nuts and bolts let them sit for a while sprayed them some more...then after that started cracking them and all came off except for the one connecting the y pipe to the middle exhaust or resenator piece....we tourched it and still didnt crack...so anyway it got late last night left my car at my buddies place(mind u we did this all with my jack and a floor jack that we only used in the front...the back was done just by my own jack...very difficult....but i took off work today to finish it up and we got that *****y nut off using a big vice grip and lubricated the **** out of it...after that was off the install was the easiest thing...but getting the old exhaust wasnt bad until 1 nut fuked me up...even the hangers and rubber mounts came off simple...but anyway i love the exhaust...wen i first started it i wasnt that impressed it was a tad deeper but once it was on for a few mins and i reved it up it sounds awesome and i love how it sounds from inside that car crusing at about 2-3000 rpm...amazing sound

The install only took 30 minutes. It was a basic bolt on.

Weren't you able to reuse the stock nut?

 

I had the same experience taking off my exhaust. It took about an hour and a half to take the old one off and about 30 minutes to mount the Nismo. I had to sawzall one bolt after I cracked a socket trying to take it off. The Nismo exhaust came with new hardware so I wasn't concerned about the original stuff.

 

i had a hard time removing one of the hangers in the rear...passanger side. It was hard getting my fat hand in there. When i put the stock exhaust back on, i lubed it up real nice so it would come out easy when i put my new exhaust on (soon..)

 

very easy install....yes the one nut was the only problem...i kept the nut i should take a pic of it and you can see what i did too it befor it came off lol

and me and my buddy had the new one on in about 30mins with everything torqued to the key

suprisingly the hangers were the easiest for me...no problems what so ever there....just 1 random nut that got to me

id rate the install about 3-4 low being easy...dont need to be a rocket scientist to install it and dont need many tools...

i borrowed all snap on tools from some guy at work...his torque wrench was awesome...said it was $400 lol

 

definitely shouldnt take more than about an hour overall. Just get some WD40 or LiquidWrench and spray the isht out of it the night before. Let it sit, spray it again in the morning. Give it about an hour and get wrenchin'!

Don't forget the breaker bar for added leverage. Every tough bolt has come loose for me. I havent broken one yet.... (knocks on wood)

 

you SIR are an idiot! (imo) dont ever get under the car when its just supported by the stock jack and a hydraulic jack. Especially when youre fully under it and busting nuts loose. Not very bright, jack stands only cost 30 bucks and could save your life and the anguish your loved ones would suffer. Sorry, had to say it.

now with that out, congrats on the new exhaust and diy. If you had fun busting that one nut loose, wait till you get to the drivers side cat pipe!

 

Funny, i just helped my buddy install his last night and i have to say that it was a piece of cake. Let me ask you guys something, is the Nismo exhaust one of the quietest ones out there???

 

I have done a few Z systems and all the CA cars came apart like they were new, the PA car I did on the other hand had this same pair of nuts on the Y to B pipe locked on there. I think I ended up cutting them with a dremel and fiberglass cutoff wheel.

Its a tad louder than stock so probably, yes.

 

I went through the same problem. When we were taking off the stock exhaust everything came off alright except for one nut at the y-to-b pipe flange. We tried lubricating, heating, etc. Nothing worked, and we ended up rounding off the nut while trying to break it loose. So we had to remove the v-shaped lateral brace type thing from under the car and then drop the entire y-and-b pipe assembly. Installing the new system was a piece of cake.

*edit* - In retrospect, an impact wrench would have been the ideal tool in conjunction with proper pre-lubrication of the seized bolt/nut.

 

Does anyone have the installation instructions for the Nismo exhaust ?
I am getting a used Nismo exhaust with the hardware but no instructions.
I know it's easy but i want to know the torques. There may be differences in the bolts also. A scan of the instruction sheet would be great !

 

i chose the nismo exhaust cause it wasnt too loud compared to the other exhaust out there. I knew that after i installed a couple more mods such as headers, cats, etc. that it would get a lot louder. Well i was right and now it sounds amazing!!

 

NISMO exhaust comes with installation guide like most NISMO products, it might not be as detailed as some would like it to be but the install itself is pretty straight foward.

 

You don't really need a guide, it's pretty much common sense. I'm no mechanic and it was technically a simple process although minorly a pain in the butt.
