Default Nissan/Nismo Titanium Exhaust... Just installed it

Hi guys,

As you know, nismo exhaust is just way too loud for my ears and I got myself a set of Nissan JDM titanium exhaust.... the muffler part came first and am still waiting for the mid pipe to come since they are too large to ship together...

The rear Ti muffler weights 8.5KG....

Right after I pulled the nismo down, I weighted it and it was 13KG exactly for the rear section...

When the mid pipe is here, I will weight both mid pipe and give you guys some ideas on how much weight saving there is going from SS to Ti...

It took me 1.5 hours by myself to jack the car up, pulled things off and installed the new Ti up... made sure nothing was loose and went for a drive... darn.... this Ti muffler is A LOT quieter than the nismo muffler with all my mods... I AM VERY PLEASED!!! It looks great too with the "- - Z - -" logo at the middle too....

Great thanks to Adam @ crawfords for all his opinions and tips!

Here are a few pictures of the muffler and I also did measure the sizes on both nismo and the Ti, they are EXACTLY the same.... so the diff. gotta be inside the box since I am still using the nismo centre pipe now (until I get the ti piece)...

Enjoy thoses pics!

cheers,

richie

Thanks mc...

I am not too sure about the HP gains though, but it just sounds nearly the same as the normal Fujitsubo Ti, just with different tips (slightly larger)... Fujitsubo claims around 12HP or so from the engine, but I think it is similar to the Nismo one since the box design is EXACTLY the same and all the pipings are the same sizes too... probably they just put more steel wools in the box to absorb the sound??? Since the car is a lot quieter now, so it givies you a bit of illusion that you have power loss, but my butt tells me it is pretty much the same though....

With the sound clips, I will find a time to do that when I get the centre pipe installed!

cost wise.... the entire system set me back around 1702 USD at my door step all together (3 days express from Japan)....

cheers,

richie

Ice,

The price is Y-pipe back, without the gaskets though.... I bought it used, but it is like a brand new condition.... a brand new one will set you back another 300 to 350 USD more...

OK.... UPDATE...

After the installed, I went for a meeting, then on the way back, I did feel a bit of diff. on the power level.... actually... it isn't about the power, it is about the TORQUE... I could feel more torque... so just to clear that I wasn't imagining myself or lying to myself... I took my wife for a spin under full acceleration (she is used to that whenever I do it in my car), she immediately told me that she felt that she got pushed into the seat more and definitely feel more torque... She was really surprised that the car becomes soooooo quiet and couldn't believe it was just a muffler changed (she doesn't care much about the increased torque, but could feel it easily).... I could say... it is even quieter than the Fujitsubo Ti exhaust that my friend has... and that's how quiet it becomes...

So that's the update.... and I am loving it!!! Trying to like the huge *** exhaust tips now though.. they are surely a lot larger than nismo ones...

cheers,

richie

Wow, VERY nice, the perfect mod if you're going for weight savings.

What else have you done to reduce weight? I think I read a thread a long time ago about some really light titanium coilovers, possibly JIC...

LOL @ the "wife dyno" hahahhahaha

That is one beautiful exhaust...too bad it is $$$. From the photos, it appears that the exhaust tips do not have the purplish color at the edges. Can you confirm? Also please post any close up pics of the tips and any additional photos of the exhaust on the car will be appreciated. Thanks!!!

There is no purplish colour AT ALL anywhere on the exhaust muffler (besides the welding parts)... the tips are in matted titanium colour...

Sorry, don't have any more photos when the exhaust is on the car... will take more photos later!

cheers,

richie

You can only get them from Japan... if you want a brand new one and doesn't care about the cost... www.japanparts.com will be able to help you...

my friend in japan got that for me from Up Garage....

Also adam @ crawfordz told me that Nissan Japan doesn't make those anymore...

cheers,

richie

Thanks for posting the close-up pic, I like the fact that it does not have the burnt titanium look...much cleaner imo.

Amiricanmade,

I am not too sure though... because you will need to buy a Y pipe in Japan and that will cost you at least another 400 USD.... and the shipping cost might be different to the States too... you might be looking at around 2.7K USD shipped to you I would guess for a brand new system... but don't quote me on that mate... you can check out the shipping cost with japanparts.com to the States...
