Any advise Please! I just completed an install of a pair of resonated TP's and a Y-Pipe tonight. They currently mate up to the stock midpipe and exhaust system. Since the install I have developed a squealing noise upon deceleration. I have checked all the gaskets and there does not appear to be any leaks but for the life of me I can't determine the cause of the noise. The noise is similar to a squealing engine belt. I know it has to do with the exhaust install because the noise was not present before the install. Could this be caused by backpressure somewhere? Any help would be greatly appreciated. One thing to note is that the Y-pipe outlet is 3" and it currently mates up to the stock 2.5" midpipe. Not sure if this has anything to do with the noise or not. Thanks

I ran with the 3" Y-pipe/ stock 2.5" midpipe and exhaust for several months, but never heard a squealing sound. Can't say about the test pipes.

Thank you all for your comments. I jacked the car up again today but couldn't find any leaks or rubs anywhere. Very strange. I've done exhaust work before on a few other cars but this is the first that squeals like this.

Mine squeals on decel. i think its contributed to the sudden change in pipe diameter. its happened in many other sbefore. It sounds more like a leak aroun d3k or 2k rpm. Its perfectly normal.

If this is the sound your getting - it isn't normal and you shouldn't get it.
Our test pipes do not get this sound - if the resonators are not good quality or the welding is not done right, the packing and core could separate and cause this sound to happen. We know as we tested for this in our early models.
The smaller resonators also tend to do this. We decided to use 8" resonators on our models to combat the issue and make absolutely sure the sound result was smooth and rasp free.
I assure you a properly built resonated testpipe should not make this sound and should not rasp at all...that is the purpose for getting the resonated version in the first place.

Thanks Rick. The noise that I am getting is definitely more like a belt squealing not a "light saber noise" type noise like you described. It's more like when you first start up an old car and the belt makes that high pitch squealing noise for a few seconds.

I have APS test pipes (of high quality) and it still happens. Its because of the change in test pipe diameter to Y pipe. If you upgrade to an aftermarket Y pipe it gets work cause the midpipe is involved too now. Goes away if you have a full exhaust upgrade.
