Default AAM Dual Exhaust..Evap relocate...

Hey Im just wondering if any one else with the AAM had to relocate there Evap canister? I have the dual and the passenger side muffler is only in the way of the steel guard around the canister. I temp removed the steel guard to be able to finsih the exhaust. I was wondering if it is a good or bad idea to leave the guard off. I was thinking about modifying the guard to fit but is it still to close to the evap canister.?? Thanks

I am having the same issues with my Amuse Ti Exhaust. I was told to put heat shield around the canister. But, the Amuse exhaust is still hitting the purge side of the canister and has melted some of the plastic off the canister. I am taking my car into a shop later on today to get it looked at. I don't no much about the Evap Canister. Except that it deals with our gas fumes. Hope I don't blow up while driving my car....

I have the Amuse exhaust and have melted my evap canister enough to make my check engine light come on. I put in a new one and just put heat tape on the evap canister and its been fine since.

Sounds like a poorly designed system. Thanks for posting so the rest of us can avoid evap fondue.

It's just that the evap canister is a US requirement. The Amuse was designed for the Japanese version of the Z which doesnt have an evap canister.

The melting isnt a total meltdown...its just a small corner about a size of a quarter

Yea, mine melted about a dime size. And I put heat shielding around the entire canister and hose's. And it seems to hold up just fine.

I have the Greddy EVO2 exhaust and it required the evap box to be relocated completely. Some exhaust systems require to do so.
